UK Basic tax rate is 22% and that of High income earners (I think those earning over £36,000) is about 40%.
Nigeria is about 20%

@alldruns

Since your employer claims to be deducting your tax, why not talk to the accountant or whoever keeps the record books? He should know the correct percentage.

Another alternative, if you are based in Lagos, go to tax office Alausa or any branch of first bank (preferably their head office or any of their regional/zonal offices), fill a tax assessment form and you will be told what to pay. Within a week you will get an authentic personal tax clearance receipt/certificate in your name that is valid for one year. The tax collected by Lagos state government depends on how much you earn/or you 'declare' you earn per annum. Infact,at First Bank's banking hall, you will see posters/signs clearly stating the tax that is to be paid according to various income categories. Union bank also offers the same service (go to their head office as well).
