Football Manager 2014 looks into the future by simulating the entire 2013/14 season

Cancel the Sky Sports subscriptions, don’t bother with the new BT Broadband, flog your season tickets – the 2013/14 Premier League standings are in.

Jose Mourinho’s return to Chelsea brings them their first Premier League title since 2010, Tottenham finally finish above Arsenal for the first time since 1995, Martin Jol is sacked by Fulham before Christmas, while all of the Premier League new-boys – Cardiff, Hull and Crystal Palace, go straight back down.

That is according to computer game giants Football Manager, who after being asked by the Evening Standard, ran a simulation of the league to predict the future.

With all the newly-assembled squads in place and after taking all of the results in the Premier League so far into account, Football Manager found that Mourinho’s ‘homecoming’ was a successful one, while Arsenal’s £42.4m signing Mesut Ozil couldn’t prevent a new-look Spurs side from pipping them to fourth place and Champions League qualification.

Football Manager, a management simulation games developed by Sports Interactive and published by Sega, has officially ran since 2005 (although Sports Interactive are actually responsible for a game called ‘Championship Manager’ which has actually been going since 1992 before a break-up of their partnership with the original publishers meant they had to change their name.)

Its database and cross between fiction and reality is very impressive – compiled by approximately 1,000 researchers across the world (including real-life scouts), there are over 500,000 players, managers and other staff members worldwide.

Samuel Eto’o top scored for Chelsea with 21 goals in 33 games but Eden Hazard won all the plaudits with 15 goals and 17 assists as the Blues won the league by four points to second-placed Manchester United.

Despite Ozil registering seven goals and 15 assists in 32 appearances and Olivier Giroud netting 16 times, Arsenal, who were fourth place in April, succumbed Champions League qualification to neighbours Spurs after a dreadful end to the season saw them drop points to Everton, Hull, Newcastle and Norwich.

Struggling Fulham departed company with Jol in December, and after being in the bottom of three for the majority of the season, new manager Harry Redknapp masterminded victories in their last three matches to pull off another ‘great escape’.

Before all you doubtful and skeptical viewers dismiss it (remember Arsenal fans, it’s only a game) Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas has previously admitted to scouting players on the game while a host of players including Ole Gunnar Solskjær and Paul Pogba play it.

Football Manager 2014′s release date is yet to be announced but depending on the format on which you play it, FM is normally released around November time – making it a perfect Christmas present for all budding football managers and stattos.

So save yourself the money, stress and hassle of getting your hopes up for your team this year, and just check the final table below to see how your club will fare this campaign.
