Ogun state government has launched 150 new and air conditioned metro taxi scheme as part of the on-going reforms in the transport sector of the state economy.

The scheme is part of the calculated attempt at developing efficient, safe transport system, promote and strengthen the transport institution of the state to coordinate and encourage private sector as an engine of economic growth and development.

At a ceremony held at the arcade ground of the governor office in Abeokuta, the state capital, the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun seized the ample opportunity of the event to promise more infrastructural development for socio economic development of the state.

Inaugurating the taxis before members of the state executive council, traditional rulers and benefitting unions, the state governor asked beneficiaries to maintain a high level of discipline on the roads just as seek the support of all stakeholders for the success of the scheme.

While thanking the citizens for their support and understanding, the governor also enlisted the cooperation of all stakeholders to ensure the success of the scheme.

The taxis are expected to be deployed to major towns across the state.
