The quest for the convocation of a national conference got a boost on Tuesday as the Senate said that steps should be taken to convene a national conference of ethnic nationalities. Source: http://thenationonlineng.net/new/senate-backs-convocation-of-national-conference/ |

Three things are needed 1. When? 2 any part of Nigeria who want to leave this unholy union called Nigeria should be allowed to leave peacefully 3 referendum should be conducted 9 Likes |

“ While appreciating the tremendous merit in the case put forth by ASUU we call on its leaders to return to class , while pragmatic negotiations to address their grievances continue " To this, I say NEVER!! We've been down this road before and it's a road that lead to nowhere! 2 Likes |

Its another jamboree and a waste of public funds in the build up to the 2015 General Elections All we need is a referendum conducted by the United Nations (a truly independent body) with every Nigerian participating because the people that will represent each interest at the national conference are the same characters that currently constitute the national assembly So what will they be saying that the national assembly cant say now? Once again, the north will have more representatives than the south and their wishes will end up being our command 10 Likes |

you make me laugh, that decision have already been made several years ago. Nigeria at the moment in international law is 3 separate state. Sovereign Western Nigeria Sovereign Eastern Nigeria Sovereign Northern Nigeria A military or nobody in Nigeria after 1960 had no power to alter the that decision. the position Jonathan is occupying is an illegal position and he should not be there if you follow international law. when 3 separate Sovereign countries form a union, you dont have a president over them. ok. you people should find out. In international law all the 3 separate Sovereign countries are expected to have their own army, police, currency etc just like any country. And if they decided to have a common currency, that was what they did. Not occupation which was what happen. It is lack of respect for international law, why you people want to continue with occupation, what you have in place is occupation Picture of independent of western Nigeria from britain. 1 Like

A military or nobody in Nigeria after 1960 had POWER to alter that decision. There is noway in the world , a person can alter that act as claim by 1963 , because azikiwe position was not a presidential position. The only other option is to remove yourself from that agreement because sovereign state can leave a constitution and a union |

All I see in the comments are very unfortunate opinions and halfbaked show of intelligence. This our beloved country can't split without half of you commenters dead. Although I agree that a sovereign national conference should be convened, but on a term that guarantees true nationalism. Not just to paper over the cracks. Mind you the moment Nigeria cease to exist, that's the exact moment we cease to be powerful (Igwebuike) All we need is tolerance, respect and love. Which isn't too much to ask. God will help us. 3 Likes |

Tell David whatever his name is that Nigerians should not be short changed by the greed of his and his fellow beneficially of 'one Nigeria'. Any attempt to restructure Nigeria must be with all option on table. I refuse to buy the idea that everyone must remain in 'oneNigeria' It is either SNC or no conference at all I personally believe in peace and peaceful co-existence but i refuse to agreed that all must live in one country in order to be in peace with one another ANY PART OF THE COUnTRY THAT WANT TO LEAVE MUST ALLOWED TO DO SO! 4 Likes |

Re: Senate Backs Convocation Of National Conference by Nobody: 1:37pm On Sep 18, 2013 |
Haha Musiwa is back with his map propaganda..... Mod, why unleash Musiwa on us like that now? @ David Mark, every angle should be considered in a SNC, including possible break-up... All areas should be an 'all go' area. Sovereignty is given by the people and the people owns sovereignty. The people should decide whether they want to live together or separate and a referendum should be conducted. Every Nigerian over 18 should be asked if they wanna remain as part of Nigeria or go their separate ways. That is the real meaning of freedom of association. 1 Like |
