Symphony007: you see why i said you should keep off this debate because the cracks in your understanding of it will become glaring.

Firstly, ameachi has not abandoned his responsibilities as governor despite all he is going through. I was surprised to see him lastv week in old port harcourt township inspectng the new intergrated cultural center under construction and some roads, what about your president who went nigerian children are languishing at home, he is busy calming nerves in his party so he can be president again 2015. How many meeting has he held with ASUU? How many meetings has he held with PDP governor, party leaders, etc..get the figures and know where his priorities lie.

Secondly the head of police in rivers state and every state is a commissioner, not DPO, and the reason he is disrespecting the governor is because he is a tool of the president. Even the strongest jonathan supporter here can attest to that fact.
The other day, Amaechi assembled his colt members around the country, brought them to government house in PH when the Police prevented them from entry. Is that what you refer to as what a reason governor should be doing?
Secondly, are you now saying it is possible for ASUU to continue their services without a government in place. Is it not the same Amaechi and the northners that are preventing GEJ and his team from solving both ASUU and other problems facing the country? From Boko Haram to now New PDP etc. Are all these not enough to turn a government dawn?

stine b: quote author=Symphony007] you are saying bigger rubbish! Ameachi has had three police commissioners as givernor. Non has fought him, there are 35 commissioners of police in nigeria except rivers. Non are fighting their governors. For this man to be fighting ameachi. Does it not show he has federal support. He closes down ameachi's new offices but wike's grassroot support movement office populated by thugs are not touched. How stupid do you have to be not to see this or are you just in denial. Ask your president was he can't govern his party. Why is he always fighting governors and other members of his party. If a man can't lead his party, how can he lead a nation. PDP is a mess, the country is a mess, and we're suppose to have a leader? Rather than you to point out this amatuerish way of leadership and thiuggish greed to hold on to power in 2015 you support him blindly.

Likewise. I advise you to talk to your president and tell him he suppose to lead. Not to hunt governors who oppose him, Shred the constitution, abandon a nation in disarray to chase a 2015 agenda. Once again. How many meeting has the president of nigeria held with ASUU so the youths of his country can return to school? How many meetings has the president of nigeria held with PDP governors and factional members to preserve his 2015 ambitions? Make the distiction and how the let's see what moral guts you have to reply me.In your little mind,I'm sure you think you have madde sense!schewwwwwwww

ujoinme: Members of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum have called on the Minister of Finance, who is also the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to resign her appointment if she knew she would not be able to adhere strictly with the Appropriation Act 2013.

They said the non-compliance with the revenue projections of the Federal Government 2013 Budget was also a direct breach of the provisions of the Appropriation Act, 2013.

These decisions were part of the resolutions of the Governor Rotimi Amaechi-led NGF, which met in Abuja on Tuesday evening.

States which were represented by their governors at the meeting were those of Rivers, Niger, Kwara, Osun, Ekiti, Ogun, Adamawa, Oyo, Lagos, Sokoto, Jigawa, Kano and Zamfara while deputy governors of Edo, Borno and Nasarawa states represented their governors.

The governors also called for the immediate dissolution of the Economic Management Team.

I don't live in Nigeria so anything political about the nation does not impact me but NOI have contributed to the development of my state.

I live in Nigeria and I will die in Nigeria, I will not live in any other country of this world I will only visit other nations and return home, I am a part of this country, I have investments in Nigeria only, I am employing hundreds of young people and I am helping youths to get a better tomorrow. All the decisions taken out here affect me. What contribution has Ngo made to your state?

Please don't get me wrong, I have respect for NGO as a person and I respect her credentials but I think we do not need her to contribute to our economic woes at this time. I only hear of economic improvements on the pages of newspapers and on social media but not in the lives of the multitudes I come across in my daily routines. I feel the pinch of the harsh economy badly and I am in the upper middle class. The Federal government is broke as of today and the oil price that is the main stream of our economy is on the favourable side. We do not need economic policies but better life.
Nigeria was the first African nation to pay all its debts to the Paris club of about $30B!!! under Ngo (her bro was heavily compensated for acting as one of the agents to the deal) yet we could not affort to fix Lagos Ibadan express or even build infrastructure in Nigeria. What an Impractical economist. Why was the loan not restructured or rescheduled because now that Ngo is back our loans have gone up by over =N=1.2 trillion as at 2012 see link below.
http://www.naijaline.com/news/july/nigeria%E2%80%99s-debt-rises-n121tn-under-jonathan-%E2%80%93-investigation
The combination of this woman and Lamido has ruined the economy of my country Nigeria. I am saying this because as a venture capitalist, loans are more expensive and difficult to obtain, small industries are folding up faster than in the past. Ask the artisan and the low income earner they will tell you the true state of the economy.

Thanks to her, the nation you live in paid off most of its debt.

Your assertion is false!..... go to the DMO website to confirm. She is still loyal to the World bank that made her who she is. Stick to facts not fallacies

It was she that suggested to publish each state's monthly financial allocation from the federal government in an effort to increase transparency of government.

This is a very good initiative from NGO and I am happy to see this practice continued by the Ministry of Finance over the years , I give her full credit. Unfortunately, Nigerians are too laid back to use such information effectively. I have challenged my Local government chairman severally over the dearth in projects in spite of the massive climb in revenues.

It was she that suggested to remove the fuel subsidy scam that you all threw a temper tantrum over until some Hausa guy gave one a breakdown of how beneficial the suggestion was. She equally suggested a budget that would improve the unemployment rate of your nation.

I was one of the brave and patriotic Nigerians that fought and is still fighting the subsidy removal. I disagree with the government over the subsidy because
1. The Government charges Vat , Demurrage, licence and permits and bribe to Government officials before arriving at the pump price of fuel.
2. We have zero confidence in Government because they have been lying to Nigerians since 1985 over the fuel subsidy matter. Each time the price is increased , we are promised improved infrastructure and everything good but has never happened, from road maintenance fund to PTDF to the current Sure P, we have paid and no value received from FGN. GEJ said he would cut his fruitless travels and big government , today as I write he is in the US attending the UN summit with about 600 fellows as delegates , stillon the bill of the FGN. SureP has limited impact around the lives of the generality of Nigerians.
3. FGN has the responsibility to keep refineries and down stream sector running. It will be a lot cheaper to produce crud oil and refine locally. With all the monies spent by government under the guise of refinery TAM we have NO results to show.
4. Diesel was deregulated several years ago and the price has never come down but keeps going up daily. Yet they lie to us that deregulation will reduce the price of fuel.
Now the foregoing has shown that the FGN has failed the people , why then should the people pay for the inefficiencies of the FGN? Ngo claims the subsidy scam has been curtailed but they still make massive payments to subsidy thieves and they are unable to prosecute them. Monumental fraud is still going on under the nose of madam world bank.
This is almost two years after the removal of subsidy…..what are the gains to Nigerians outside the textbook and in people’s minds
Other than textbook or online improvements in the economy can this woman justify her stay as the min of finance and coordinating minister of the economy?
Nigerians just want a better life, is this too much to ask for?

Good budget my foot, how has that helped our economy or the man on the streets? We are all aware the FGN is broke and despite all the good oil prices, our economy is clearly being mismanaged. They cannot even fund the Lagos Ibadan expressways because the funds availab le are being channelled to corruption and politics of 2015..
Tell me why this woman should remain on that seat if the economy is crumbling badly under her watch.

Past chairman of an organization that donated $49.3 billion to provide grants and interest-free loans to the world’s poorest countries (your nation included).

Thanks to her for this, it would be better for her to stay on that seat helping my people rather than being a major contributor to the killing of My nation’s economy as at today, handing us over to the word bank and trying out text book policies.

Achievements are not defined by staying in the Ivory towers and adding negative value to humanity. It is not by the impressive CV above. Tell you what; no black can go far in such a big organisation without being a butt licker or a jack ass. If you do not support imperialism you cannot go far at the world bank. Amechi has created jobs and infrastructure in Rivers state and no one can take that away from him. Amechi took over at the height of militancy and he took the war to the base of the militants and kidnappers. Ngo’s achievements are just in the minds of her supporters.

She should leave for good and allow a more practical person to move the country forward

Revenue Shortfall: Fresh crisis brews between Jonathan and govs

on September 29, 2013 / in Headlines 1:09 am / Comments

*Allegations of manipulation of economy against Finance Minister

By Soni Daniel

Feelers from some state governors at the weekend suggest that unless President Goodluck Jonathan issues an urgent directive to the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, to release funds due to the 36 states, the President risks further isolation from this group of elected public officers.

State governors, according to Sunday Vanguard investigations, are angry with the Federal Government over the non-remittance of their three months’ allocations in full by the Finance Ministry.

Although all the governors in the country are not pleased with this financial situation, only seven of them, who are with the breakaway faction of the ruling People’s Democratic Party, have openly cried out, saying their governments are experiencing financial incapacitation.

However, PDP governors still loyal to Jonathan and the Bamanga Tukur-led faction have opted to “suffer in silence” over the withheld funds, believing that the situation would be addressed with the urgency it deserves.
Sunday Vanguard was made to understand that they have also chosen to tolerate the situation so as not to be seen as disloyal to the President and the party.

A northern governor, whose state has virtually been grounded as a result of inadequate funds to meet the obligations of his administration, confirmed that most “of us are quite upset over the financial distress imposed on us by the Federal Government.”
Jonathan and Okonjo-Iweala

Jonathan and Okonjo-Iweala

The governor, who is one of the staunchest supporters of Jonathan and who insisted on speaking in confidence, said: “If urgent steps were not taken by the Presidency to put an end to the emerging financial crisis in the states, more governors would be forced to distance themselves from Aso Rock Villa and the Finance Minister.

“We are afraid that if the current situation, which we believe is artificially created so as to punish some states and their governors is not stopped, many governors would be left with no option than to seek redress.

“It is difficult for the Finance Minister to convince us that after generating N1.05 trillion in July this year, a figure that was well over the projection by government for the month, states could not be paid their full allocations for the month.

“As we speak, we have not been paid for August and September while our people are anxiously looking up to us as governors to give them dividends of democracy through provision of life-changing projects.

“In almost all the states, the salaries and emoluments of civil and public servants have not been paid while contractors are on edge waiting to do battle with the governors.

“If we may ask, where has all the money gone since Okonjo-Iweala keeps insisting that the economy is robust and kicking?”.

Questions
Another governor from the South, who narrated the situation in his state to Sunday Vanguard, noted that he would have to stay away from his state for as long as the Federation Allocations were withheld so as not to run into trouble with contractors.

The governor said, “The financial position is so bad that I have to avoid going to my office daily because contractors are waiting for me. I have no genuine excuse to give since they won’t believe that for the past three months we have not been given our full remittances by the centre.

“This is what we have been exposed to by the Federal Government even with increased revenue confirmed by the Central Bank of Nigeria accruing to the purse of the government.

“Nigerians should be more vigilant by asking the Finance Minister where our money is being kept. Let them tell Nigerians what happened to the balance of the N1.05 trillion that accrued to Nigeria after N792billion was shared to states for July.

“We have made the point that it is either they are hiding our money for 2015 elections or they are deliberately manipulating the economy to give Nigerians the impression that all is well when the nation is broke.”

But, last Thursday, the Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Samuel Otorm, insisted that the nation’s economy was very sound and making progress on all fronts.

The minister asked Nigerians to ignore those in the ‘New PDP’, who allege that something is wrong with the economy but carefully avoided saying why monthly allocations had not been remitted in full to states by the Federal Government.

This is another reason why we do not need a theoretical Finance and Coordinating Minister. Three months of allocation has not be remitted to the states for flimsy reasons and yet the retardocracy wants us to believe in what they say not what we see.

Abuse or dislike Amechi all you can, but he tells the truth, the same east west road they insulted him over claimed the life of Pej's mum and now he has joined the calls for the sack of madam world bank theories. I join his call for a better life for my children

some new thoughts that require answers from OKO njo;

A country that has extreme difficulties in providing BASIC infrastructure to its masses under NGO has done the following

1. Repaid loans to Okonjo's ogas at the world bank and the west

2. Devalued our currency in line with the world bank economic policies when our inductries are in comatose and in a disadvantaged position to build the value of naira

3. going against the constitution to create a sovereign fund invested in the economies of the west - American ogas of Okonjo. Most other countries of the world invest such funds in own economies and create growth.

4, what became of the over 65 billion reserves left by OBJ, is it reflecting in infrastructure on ground?

5. why remove subsidies in line with world bank economies when most countries in our peer group are increasing subsidies. How many oil producing countries but refined products at such a high price.

6. the economy is bleeding under a theoretical minister reporting to clueless guy

in my opinion okonjo should not only be removed but also jailed for economic crimes
