cardoso111: Advice is noun e.f I need your advice on my study plan. From your analysis, it is still confusing when using it in a sentence. For instance, "I WAS ADVICED/ADVISED TO STAY AWAY" |

yetseyi: I thought I answered your question olojuede01: olojuede01: From your analysis, it is still confusing when using it in a sentence. For instance, "I WAS ADVICED/ADVISED TO STAY AWAY"Advice is a noun. It means a suggestion for a beneficial course of action. Advise is a verb. It means to give advice. In this case it should be I was advised to stay away. |

@ Poster I will try as much to give a pellucid picture of your quest. As someone has said above: Advice is a noun; Advise is a verb. This is how it is used; If you need advice from someone, it can be written in two forms as thus; 1. I need your ADVICE - In this form, ADVICE is a noun. It is the complement of the sentence, and it's mostly noun. 2. He ADVISED me not to go. - can you see how this is used? It's also used in past tense form, because it's a predicate (verb) of the pronoun 'He'. @OP, you just have to know when words change from one form to another. There are many of them in English words. From NOUN to ADJECTIVE to VERB to ADVERB. Hope I answered your question? 'Lemme' know if more is needed. Good for you as you seek to know. There is wisdom in multitude of counsel. God bless you! 1 Like |
