Amaechi says he plans to build 750 model secondary schools. But so far, he expects to commission 250 schools in Oct. That is in 6 years.

Rivers state airport was started at the same time as Benin, Abuja...Our airport is abandoned.

The minister of aviation has abandoned Rivers airport

We now walk on the tarpaulin (at the airport)

The minister of aviation impounds our plane because of a disagreement with the president.

She is reckless...

We paid for 2 helicopters to monitor oil theft in River state...

They are punishing Rivers state.

Let's not discuss politics..can we discuss development?

Pleading the fifth on if he is running or not in 2015.

He is denying so many things regarding 2015 tho'
Re: Governor Amaechi Live On Channelstv by Nobody: 11:30am On Sep 21, 2013
His description of the schools looks tantalizing. Good, but is it sustainable? Out of 750, only 250 has been completed in 6 years and most have not started operation.
Re: Governor Amaechi Live On Channelstv by Nobody: 11:31am On Sep 21, 2013
So Rivers state really generate more electricity than the state presently required.
Re: Governor Amaechi Live On Channelstv by Nobody: 11:33am On Sep 21, 2013
In terms of power, 60% of power in Rivers state is by PPP

Generation is the problem...we are doing 535 MW...By next year, we should have 715MW.

For now, what is being generated is being distributed through PHCN...but PHCN is giving us nothing.

It seems the vice presidential ambition of Amaechi is real. He dodged the questions as regards to whether he'll contest in 2015 or not.

How can you say it's real? The guy confirmed nothing....so no need trying to second-guess his silence on 2015.

I think the President needs to do both economic and political reforms
We are the only country that produces crude oil but refines in Niger republic and also refines in Cote D'ivoire.

Why would the minister of aviation prevent us from bringing in helicopters to monitor oil theft?

The only legacy I want to leave behind is thriving university. We plan to bring in our brothers from the diaspora...Rivers state pays the best wages.

We met a wage bill of 2.5 billion and embargo on employment.
Our current wage bill is 8.5 billion

Justifying high expenditure:
The route that takes you to the airport cost X billion
The road to Owerri was done by us.
The road to Aba is being done by us - 12.5 billion...

I am hoping for a debate.

These Channelstv Presenters acted deceitful at the initial part of the interview during the discussion on education. They mentioned the winners of the channelstv book competition, who are from schools in Rivers State without mentioning the fact that those students were from missionary schools and not public schools. The winners of that competition were from two missionary schools in Rivers and one private school in Lagos. Yes, Amaechi is building model schools, but the presenters ought to have mentioned the missionary schools part of the story. By deliberatly looking away from that aspect and using half-truths to massage the ego of the governor, I think that is deceitful.

Rivers Acquires Choppers to Check Oil Theft

05 Nov 2012
....
Amaechi said the two new helicopters would beef up surveillance of oil facilities, as well as combing hideouts of criminal elements in the state.
The bill, he said, would be sent to the House of Assembly and would tackle problems relating to environmental pollution.

“We are putting a law in place that will punish all those who pollute our environment. We have placed orders for two helicopters that will arrive in December. Those helicopters will fly across the entire state 24 hours. They carry cameras that can see criminal activities; the police, the State Security Service (SSS), the army will be monitoring the areas also,” he said.

Rivers state government releases Agreement on purchased helicopters

April 16, 2013

...

The Helicopter Purchase Agreement stated that the two Bell 412EP helicopters were purchased at the rate $28.414 million.

Stating further, the agreement clarifies that the helicopters were manufactured by Bell Helicopter Textron, Inc.

The agreement clearly shows that the “freight and ferry charges, disassembly, crating, reassembly and insurance from the place of delivery to the Helicopters’ final destination, shall be the seller’s responsibility.

“The purchase price include a Bell transition training course for two pilots per helicopter; a Bell field maintenance training course for one engineer and a Bell electrical training course for one engineer per helicopter at no additional charge.”

Responding to questions from newsmen, the commissioner had disclosed further that the helicopters were paid for by the state and Federal Governments, stating that they were bought to address security challenges bedevelling the state, which include fighting all illegal bunkering operations to a halt. She explained that the state House of Assembly had given an approval to the state government to complete payment on its share.

No mention was made of the mono rail project. It seems the project is now off-radar

I think there has to be a balance in project conception and execution. You dream too big, you may end up with white elephant projects and wasted funds. You dream too small you may end up with substandard projects. There has to be a balance.

It is wrong for the minister of aviation to stop work at PH Airport because of political differences. We need to hear her side of the story because it is not only PH that is yet to be completed. Even Lagos, Imo and many other Airports are still uncompleted.

Amaechi is trying whip up sentiments by making it look as if FG deliberately abandoned the federal roads in Rivers State due to political differences. The governor of Akwa-Ibom has even done more federal roads that Amaechi without crying of neglect from FG due to political differences. The truth is that these major oil producing states (Rivers, Akwa-Ibom and Delta) have so much money and they can afford to do the major federal roads in their states. FG should fix major arterial roads in the federation first.

If the state and FG jointly paid for the helicopters, how come the FG is now stalling the whole project? These are some of the collateral damages due to political roforofo fight. The FG should tell us why they've failed to clear the helicopter to come in. Are there fears that Amaechi had other intentions?

But can the state really sustain 2 helicopters flying 24/7 and other elements on ground needed for quick response? Amaechi to me appears like the son of a very rich dad who throws money at problems, and who thinks big, and thinks that the bigger the better.

Stop this madness, I say.
Amaechi is telling the truth about FG roads in Rivers State.
The East-West Road is a prime example. Unless you do not live in Rivers State, you would not be typing such hogwash to defend your paymaster.
