Freelance Editor (trainee) Required For Magazine Project. by naijacutee(f): 12:08am On Sep 23, 2013
A freelance editor is required for a small personal magazine project. This is not a permanent job, and would be ideal for a gifted student writer who is interested in making some extra cash while waiting for the ASUU strike to be called off. There are however opportunities for media students to work on this project even after resumption as this would be an excellent enhancement for CVs. This is a position for a proactive person who wants to grow in the media field, without being dependent on the Nigerian educational system.

All locations will be considered, and the candidate would be expected to work remotely, while meeting strict deadlines.

Requirements
- A clear and concise command of the English language, and an ability to communicate well on paper.
- Internet access, and an ability to work to a tight deadline.
- Ability to liaise with various writers/journalists, editing journalistic copy and compiling copy for printing deadlines.
- Keen interest in the newspaper content - local and international, and a desire to achieve international journalistic standards locally.
- Experience of using Microsoft word and Excel.

Tasks
- Twice a month, you would be required to source top journalistic content from various sources, and produce content (which you would be paid for) on some occassions.
- Ensure that all published copy is of the highest editorial standards, written grammatically, with maximum impact and free from all typographical and other errors.
- Follow local trends, and be able to cultivate high-quality content around these, in a very short turnaround time.

Renumeration
- You would be paid on a per project basis i.e twice a month for each successfully delivered project + for any additional contents you have produced.
- Support in gaining access to internationally accredited journalistic courses and training programs.

If you're interested, please send a cover letter on why you think you would be suitable for this role, as well as a reasonable quote for a 500-word article to asterix8701@hotmail.com

If you have a blog, or any previous written articles, please provide a link or an attachment.

Age, Gender, Tribe, Disability status are irrelevant for this role. All that is required is that you have a passion for media, and that you have steady internet access.

Please use this thread to ask any questions you may have about this role. I'm quite active on Nairaland, and am happy to answer your questions here.
