legalcode: even those yoruba people living in dirty 'face-me-i-face-you' still spend their life savings on owambe. Averages for Lagosian Owambe Expenses. $36,000,000,000\ 18,000,000 (Lagosians, est.) = N2000 per capita N166.66 a month N23.80 a day = not life savings. |

I have had a similar thought at a point in time as well. Fashola is not condemning Owambe parties. What he is pointing out is the amount of money that goes into these events and how we can keep that money within Lagos/create youth employment out of it. Fashola is only speaking in economic terms since he is a governor and has to think about all these budget things. |

we're going to do this again to until somebody shows that they have taken JS1 math Averages for Lagosian Owambe Expenses. $36,000,000,000\ 18,000,000 (Lagosians, est.) = N2000 per capita N166.66 a month N23.80 a day = not a lot of money at all. |

Ikengawo: we're going to do this again to until somebody shows that they have taken JS1 mathForget Maths, use logic. Your calculations are too elementary to explain how it works. 1 owambe, an average of 400/600 guests...... Multiplied by the large number of parties that take place every weekend. Gerrit?........Without including the business networking that takes place over food and drinks. Going by your warped explanation, If the whole 18million residents in Lagos organize owambes in a day.........Then who are the people that will attend them?? There is more to income generation than spare-part selling. @Topic, Its normal to try booking an event hall that costs between N400,000 to N700,000 to rent and you'll find out its been booked for months ahead. This is before you factor in the food/small chops the guests will consume, drinks and cocktails, event planners, decorators, make-up artists , aso-ebi and jewelry to be purchased, musicians and djs, transportation etc.......for chrissake!!! We now have people that tie gele professionally. Its a booming source of revenue generation since we now have event planners, make-up artists, decorators, caterers and cocktailiers that make millions anually. Who says its not a good thing?? Abeg, spend the money and let it go around. |

many owambes are borrowed money.poverty in the land has made nigerians want to impress their colleagues and friends to insinuate that they are living well.but bet me,After the owambe is over you will see the creditors pestering the onigbese celebrants for his money. |

It is funny how only Yorubas now reside in Lagos - if it were a more favourable news - The ibos will claim 65% population |
