Every now and then, we are admonished in the church and in the Bible not to live a vanity filled lifestyle. We see people getting critisised for indulging in vanity.
But what really is vanity?

When you wear a 5000usd suit for example, people scream "what is the need of wearing such?" but they forget even when you wear a far cheaper suit, it is still vanity to many of lesser financial power.
Some rich men e.g mark zuckerberg claim to live modest lifestlyes, since he rides a 40,000usd acura and lives in a 7mill usd house. But that amount of money is still scary for the average man out there.

So I think vanity in relation to excessive spending is relative.
