I have started reading the Holy Qur'an and most of the books start with Allah ' the merciful.......' I wonder why his followers are not showing mercy. Any disconnect?

Atleast 99.9%+ believers in Allah are merciful. You shouldn't judge the whole believers with the action of a misguided few. Islam like any other religion has its both good and bad eggs.

@mighty sparrow; maybe it is the correct view to criticize muslim for having such a great religious was from God, yet some are bad. your good friend is an example of muslim that follows the religion, by your good word about him.

maybe few-muslim-abad is the way to go instead of discrediting your own statement of your friend that is in Islam. islam-is-not-abad, i think you intended to write. yes?
