l just smile whenever people mock at our devotions to the Saints but they are very comfortable with relying on their Pastors prayers.

But I tell you who hear me, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who ill-treat you. Luke6:27-28

Good morning brethren and do have a lovely day ahead.

FrancisTony: It's more like a confusion.

But.... I dnt think it should be done every friday or are they encouraging us to be committing sin? undecided
I even think we should be doing it everyday. You cannot over emphasize the importance of penance in our everyday life.
Re: A Thread For Catholics by SalC: 7:46am On Jan 03, 2014
woky: Panence is a punishment that a person suffers 'willingly' to show that he or she is sorry for something wrong he or she has done

It can also be define as a sacrament that includes contrition, confession and acceptance of punishment for repentance of sins
Can one do penance for another person's sake?

Yes

Sal C: Can one do penance for another person's sake?
Yes you can... But doing it for an unrepentant person is like pouring water on a rock... Its best you jst pray for the person.

Sal C: Lack of understanding
Not really....
The Bible says we Christians can intercede but it didn't say we should tell the dead saints to intercede for us.
And I do not rely on my Pastor's prayers.
What happened to the verse of the Bible that says I can also go boldly to the throne of grace to obtain mercy.
Re: A Thread For Catholics by POPEII: 12:20pm On Jan 03, 2014
1 they are not dead
2 did the bible ask you to use nairaland ?
3 yes you can boldly or directly , the same way you can ask for intercession. Both ways are okay.
