The story of E.L. James and her money-spinning book, Fifty Shades of Grey, continues. James’s success has raised enough issues to last a generation, and perhaps more.

I knew about the book’s success story in self-publishing, and found it encouraging to new writers, who seemed to have had the doors of traditional publishers shut in their faces.
Bethany Sales, a publisher and writer notes that, “Since the success of the Fifty Shades trilogy, the consensus among publishers seems to be that a self-published book gone viral will translate into a bestselling print book. The consensus among self-published authors is that traditional publishers can accomplish what they can't, including distribution, marketing, and selling foreign translation rights.
