Direct Line of Charge funding is the way forward in a country like Nigeria, but as usual our politicians are not likely to do the right thing.
Keep doing your best Jega!

Jega
said the 2011 general elections would
have been held earlier to allow for
litigations to be resolved before the
inauguration date of May 29 but for
the voters registration exercise which
preceded it.
He lamented that pre-election cases
which dealt with disagreements
arising from nominations and
primaries had to drag on for years
into the tenures of some candidates.
He expressed hope that the judiciary
would henceforth not deal with such
cases routinely but adopt a business-
like approach.
This is a good move by Jega. It is now left for the judiciary to live up to expectation. A situation whereby a public officer will occupy a position fraudulently for two or three after which he's found guilty and thrown out is shameful, appalling and preposterous. Oyinlola almost used the normal four years before he was booted out and replaced by Aregbesola. He felt no regret because he had enjoyed governance and recouped the money he spent during the election. This is a great move; three months are enough to investigate and decide on an electoral petition.

Meringe: Nigerians have gone to sleep thinking that 2011 elections were free, fair and credible. There are a lot to work on, there are states where elections didn't hold. It was as usual, an example of the state is Abia state. Election didn't hold there, materials were hijacked by Chief of Army Staff boys(soldiers) in favour of PDP. 75percent of voters didn't vote. And the Inec staff were also compromised.

Fixing the election today is not the problem but the problem lies with the Inec foot soldiers and security forces allowing people to exercise their rights.

If GEJ can declare that he will not run in 2015 and conduct the best election, he will be celebrated .

But power intoxicates, he can't imagine loosing all they escorts, attentions, command, honors, red carpets, presidential jets etc if he decides not to run.

How I wish he can listen and create history which I expected him to make in 2011 by declining his interest from the race.

Abdulsalami Abubarkar is celebrated in Africa and the world with the likes of Mandela.

How many of you have heard of his wife?

She is just a Chief judge of Niger State, recently appointed.

His husband has the contact to appoint her a supreme court judge like Justice Mary Peter Odili , wife of former gov of Rivers State.

Our problem is not tribal.

We are our own problem!
You lied by saying that election didn't hold in Abia state. You also lied by saying that Abdulsalami is celebrated like Mandela.
As for Jonathan's second term, kindly accept the fact that we don't have an alternative than to accept him because no vacancy in aso rock till 2019.

All I care for is disintegration of this hypocritical one Nigeria so that peace will reign and unnecessary killings in northern Nigeria will stop.

my dear, even in this forum I have encountered some posts here from people like @solomom111 declaring the 2011 election as been free and fair. in Benue where I happen to come from, the election was conducted but inevitable staff were heavily compromised. then came the turn of the judiciary. I tell you, from the tribunal to the supreme court of "injustice", all were settled and if not how can one who says he was deserted by almost all become the governor... it was broad day robbery.

where you there when the 75 per cent of Abia votes were rigged?

Keep the celebration to yourself, we dont want GEJ to be celebrated for not going for his rightful second term.

We are only going to celebrate him when he rules for second time.

I would have not replied you but I will do it to tell you why I said 75percent of Abians didn't vote.
I am with a Fed agency and I worked during the election, they experiences I had are nothing to write here. Same with my Colleagues. Ballot boxes and election materials were used in bushes, uncompleted buildings and houses of PDP politicians. They thugs that carried out this act were guided through by soldiers. When soldiers come to any polling booth, they will scare the voters and take away d election materials.
Abdusalami is celebrated, follow international politics and know what I am saying.
GEJ can contest and win, I wish him luck but I prefer him to an ICON of Democracy.

If Abdulsalami stepped down and according to you we still have issues what makes you think that if GEJ steps down the issues will all vanish and Nigeria will suddenly become civilised.

The fact that you think change in Nigeria resides in one man, one office, one political or government post shows your scant knowledge of this country or the workings of a fledgling democracy.

The condition of this country is an aggregate of the thoughts and actions of EVERY SINGLE NIGERIAN. Yesterday the problem was Yaradua, the day before OBJ, today GEJ. Just continue. Name one man, just one person that you think can turn Nigeria around overnight and I will give you a dossier of their past and present actions that will make us seriously rethink.

It simply appears that the INEC guru (Jega) is doubting the creadibility of the 2015 election even before voting.
Make all of us continue to pray to God to take absolute control and give us a person after His own heart.
