It is no more news tertiary institutions in Nigeria namely universities have been on strike running into more than Hundred days now, what is sad however is the alleged demands of univerisity union,ASUU.The purpoted demand of 3trillion Naira by ASUU is to say the least outrageous. How much is the total budget of the nation?from my investigation,it is nothing more than 4.8trillion Naira.Subtract 4.8 trillion from 3trillion Naira and you are left with 1.8trillion naira.Does other sectors of the economy not in dire need of attention?Take the ongoing strike by Doctors for instance,do they too not require govenment intervention?Security is the biggest threat to Nigeria's unity with Boko Haram in the north thus needing an overhauling of the security apparatus and equipping of our security agencies. What about Power? the number one amenity Nigerians definitely want desperately. What with the Amerrican largesse of a paltry $7 billion dollars for Africa which is not sufficient enough for Nigeria alone.I challenge ASUU to be truthful if its demands have not been politicised like the government earlier noted. What about other sectors of the economy time will not avail me to mention here?In other words ASUU is saying other sectors should share the other 1.8 trillion Naira remaining after deducting the 3trillion naira it demanded from the government from the national budget? The needless strike should be called off and negotiation should continue and allow Nigerian graduates to go for their mandatory National Youth Service and pave way for the undergraduates to continue their 'la cram la pour la A'.
