9ralife has learned of the involvement of Lagos State
Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, after he saw a
television broadcast of the actor’s deteriorating health.
Governor Fashola however did not make direct donation of
either N2m or any other amount, contrary to some broadcast
and speculations spreading on the social media. 9ralife
confirmed that the governor only instructed his aides to get
in touch with the ailing actor and direct that he be taken to
specialist hospital of standard facility to ascertain the exact
ailment and ensure proper treatment.
Meanwhile, bearing the pressure on some quarters asking
the industry to set go a scheme for its members to access
health treatment rather than embarrassing the entertainers
and burdening the public by soliciting for fund support, the
Actors Build of Nigeria (AGN) has set up an insurance
scheme for the purpose.
A source close to the president of AGN, Ms. Ibinabo
Fiberesima told 9ralife that the guild has activated a
program with the Health Maintenance Organization (HMO)
in the form of an insurance scheme to handle health needs
of the actors/actresses in the event of similar crisis.
Under the health insurance scheme which covers wide
policies on group basis, 9ralife learned that each member
would pay a monthly N1,000 premium to service the
policies.
It is expected that the arrangement would mark the end of
embarrassing broadcasts and rumors of false donations to
public figures who are unexpectedly confronted with health
challenges.
