Pls gurus in the house, am stock here I dont know what to do. If u check my topics u can see that I asked some question about PHP, and now I have started learning PHP,

but my challenge is that am yet to write one line of PHP Code. Why because I dont have a SERVER INSTALLED on my PC.

The tutorial am using is from tizag.com and the suggested that I download PHP from the site PHP.net which I did, now i dont know to go about the installation (no Setup.EXe).

pls i need ur clearification and directive on how to go about every thing so that I can get to see my browser load my PHP codes. So that this my learning will not be pointless.

your xampp is a server runing localy on ur system its used 2 comunicate with php codes. So when u write ur php code in adobe cs5 or wateva txteditor u use, with d aid of xampp u kan preview ur code n see hw if it works. Hope it helps

boss, pls can I get the xAmpp Server from a software shop, because I think to by the disk will be more economical than download

I do not think u wil see xampp or wamp at software shop becos it's a free software.

If you want XAMPP for Windows, then download it free here: www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html

If you want WAMP, then download it free here: www.sourceforge.net/projects/wampserver

Although both XAMPP and WAMP are same, but I recommend you download and install WAMP.

After installing it, just type in localhost on your browser and run it. If wamp interface is opened, then u have successfully installed wamp. If it says cannot connect, then try to start wamp by clicking on the Start button on your pc or laptop and the click on wamp to start it.

All your php files must be saved inside 'www' folder which is found inside 'wamp' folder.

Its nt inside xampp dt ur code wil b. Ur code wil b in code editor bt d dt file must b inside 'htdocs' of xampp in ur local disc. Assumin u save d file wit 'index.php'. D xampp u installed must b on 4 php 2 work in ur browser. Den u go 2 ur browser and type 'localhost/index.php'. So dia u go

after installing wamp, run it. it appears as a 'W' close to where your pc clock sits. let it turn from red to orange and lastly to green. click it and select localhost which acts like your site index file. click www directory similar to public_html

testing create a new folder in your www directory and refresh your localhost page in your browser and see how genius work. from wampserver icon 'W' or localhost page select phpmyadmin for your database manipulation. let's see your first script soon.
