Wike, Others Threaten To Physically Destroy Rivers State Plantation by maimalari: 8:29am On Oct 14, 2013
Opposition politicians opposed to the Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi have threatened to launch a destructive attack on the state government owned Banana plantation in Tia Local Government council.

The politicians issued the threat at the ward and council inauguration of members of Grassroot Development Initiative in Tai Local Government Area of the state.

Supervising minister of education, Nyesom Wike had mocked the state’s agricultural project calling on the people of Ogoni to reject such projects.

According to him, “there is nothing called new PDP. They have been defeated in court. They have been defeated in INEC. Nobody will challenge Mr. President. For all those intimidations, be rest assured you will get all the necessary protections within the ambits of the Law. Nobody will intimidate you.

“You must know people who mean well for you. You all have to know that the Ogonis are not monkeys. When I hear people say they have something for Ogoni, the only industry they have for you is a banana industry. Holy Ghost fire for all the people, for all those that conspired that there is nothing that is good for the Ogoni people except to make them have bananas. Ogoni people have paid their dues. They are not meant to be eating bananas”.

Also, a former Senator from the state, Lee Maeba said he would personally take the lead to ravage the plantation.

“We are not monkeys and we are not growing bananas at all. They have been talking on the radio that they uncovered a plot. There is no need to uncover anything, I said I will lead a well-meaning protest of all the Ogonis and by the time we return there will be no more bananas”, he threatened.

Maeba also alleged that the banana plantation was one of the factors undermining the implementation of the United Nations Environmental Programme, UNEP, report:
“I said it in Bori that after listening to the cries of the Ogonis, they agreed that the soil of Ogoni is contaminated and there must be clean-up and compensation. When the compensation team arrived from New York, Pharo led a group of agriculturist and went to establish banana farm and told them that the soil is good that they should not pay compensation; they should not clean up the land.

“But with those bananas, they are using to deceive our people, to deceive the United Nations, to deceive the Federal Government that the soil is clean. We shall clean up the bananas and clean up the soil”, he added.

In a related development, a former Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Chibudum Nwuche has said Governor Amaechi would be made to account for all the allocations he had received.

Nwuche accused Governor Amaechi of playing politics with fund meant for the state.

“What pains me most is that somebody we freely gave a mandate to and placed in Government House has forsaken the state and going on adventures.

“He has bought a plane. He will carry journalists and they will go to a place called Songhai Farms, they will go to one medical centre, they will go to one school. They go to one school all the time as if we have no schools before.

“How can you spend over N3 trillion only on schools and medical centres. I challenge our Governor to a debate. He should come out and account to the people what he has been doing with our money for the past 6years”, he said.

Nwuche who is also the immediate past acting National Deputy Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, tasked the people of the state to support President Goodluck Jonathan in the 2015 general election.

The banana plantation is one of the major agricultural projects of the Rivers State government, which is jointly owned by Union De Initiative SA DE CV of Mexico and has taken about the sum of N10 billion.

We are waiting for them to come and destroy them. Can these good for nothing politicians differentiate politics from governance. Senator Lee Maeba who is championing this course stayed in senate for 8years without initiating any FG project. What he use to deceive us was creation of Ogoni State which he knows is not feasible in this civil dispensation. This goes to show the type of people Mr. President is working with. When I heared the former Senator ranting ignorance on view point Rythmn (93.7), I didn't take him seriously. Having seen Wike join the fray. Then we may smell a rat. Questions for Lee.
Songhai farm and that Plantation farm, maybe if you count the model secondary schools are the major projects in Ogoni land bar the Roads and model primary schools he buit. Distinguished Senator, will you join Wike to demolished a project that has employed 5,000 of your people. Why not ask Wike to join you destroy the Amiesimaka Stadium and latest infrastructure at Greater Port Harcourt (Obio Akpor and Ikwerre LGA respectively).

Wike is an Ignoramus just like Goodluck Jonathan..

Does he have any idea the number of people the said plantation has created employment for??

Can he tell us the revenue the Plantation generates??

Is he aware that sensible governments are striving to diversify their streams of income and create multiple sources of revenue??

Wike is a WELL-EDUCATED ILLITERATE who shouldn't be taken seriously by sensible people..

What I've noticed is a smear campaign against Chibuike Amaechi and Rochas Okorocha in recent weeks aimed to discredit their success. Agriculture remains the only sustainable future for our unborn descendants and should encouraged.

These same people planning to destroy Ogoniland are the same people fighting against the emergence of an Ogoni as next Rivers Governor.

It still amazes me how politicians can be used against their own people and they go about carrying out such ignoble assignments enthusiastically. Adesewe Ogunlewe was once a Federal Minister of Works nominated from Lagos State, he was massively used to work against the government of Lagos State at the time. Today, he remains a nonentity in Lagos politics and his then masters do not reckon with him anymore and the governor he was used against keeps waxing stronger even after exhausting his terms in office!

Its unfortunate that chibudom Nwuche could open his mouth and talk in rivers state. As i type, d road leading to Chibudom's house at ochigba in Ahoada east lga has bin completed by amaechi. Not to talk of his village. What did he do for his people as a deputy speaker of d house of reps.

Some people are dogs when it comes to thinking. Aside their master's order, they are clueless!

He built schools. Standard and even more than standard schools in rivers. We all see them. Schools that trash the so called private ones.

He invested in Agriculture wen u are busy running the world with 'the land needs to be cleaned'. Other Agricultural agencies who wishes to be in rivers for production won't go because of ur claims! And he is proving u wrong and u are drawing back the progress!

The kinds of politics we play in this country is a killer! Nutting else!

This is where u will see people like sincere9gerian rubbishing progress cos the progressive is an opposition.

This is where u see people like asari dokubo ready to cause war if jona ain't elected just cos of the free money! Even though he knew jona ain't any good for evenhis people!

This is Nigeria, where the fools govern the wise, and more fools sing their praises!

Welcome to HELL!!!

Wike definitely has lost every sense of reasoning and shame. The way he attacks the government of Rivers state baffles me. Mr Wike, power belongs to God, no matter how dirty you fight, no matter the support you think you have from GEJ, if God Has not ordained to for you to be governor, you will never be. 2015 is still far.

What a shame!
Is this what politics is all about?
These people go about threatening the peace of the state, the police does nothing about it. The same police is quick to clamp down on other gatherings whether political or not.
The more reason why GEJ will never be re-elected come 2015.
Ogoni people over to you, are you going to allow a 2 time senator who has nothing to show for it and a power drunken minister deceive you. We sure do know who means well for the Ogonis.

God forbid! Power can never go to Wike and his group. Wike is just being childish, the man is not wise at all. I don't know anybody who got into office fighting the governor the way he's going about it. The man has allowed his unbridled desire to be governor of R/S and the seeming support he is getting from the president to blind and consume him." Whom the gods wants to destroy, they first make mad" Wike is just destroying his own political career.

Wike believes in thuggery, intimidation and cultism. These people r the main stumbling block to jonathan's possible re-election. The president should do away with these people and make peace with the rivers state governor.

I wanted to comment but it after reading all the comments above, it is clear the folks above has spoken my mind. Let nigerian just open their eyes are see what is going on then judge for yourself.

Nigerian students are languishing at home while you education minister is in his homestate planning how to destroy banana palantations. These are the kind of people implementing pres. Jonathan's transformation agenda.

Futhermore, do you see the impunity at which wike was urging citizens to destro government property, he told them they would be protected. And since then commissioner mbu has not said a word about the clear instigation of violence. Yet he says he is non partisan in rivers state and will clam down on anyone disturbing or threating to disturb the peace in the state. We're watching.
