... a slowdown, sit
down day
I like cloudy days, and
even a
Rainy day now and
then,
They seem to slow
things down
And say, "It's okay
not to move so fast."
It's the chill in the air,
The somehow
refreshing wet
Flavor all around you,
like feeling
Water without
getting wet.
In contrast, the sun
and warmth
Seem to say, "Come
on out here
and do something, go
here or there,
move and play." And
almost always
Faster than a cloudy
day. The
Clouds, the moisture,
and especially
The rain invoke a
mood all their own,
One of rest, a
welcomed rest from
Involuntary rushing,
which seems to
Be our human default
mode, and
I feel the day, the
clouds, savoring
The delicious lingering
moisture in
The air when I
awake, before I look
Out my room
window, knowing
what's
Out there before
even looking, it's a
Game of training my
sense and not
Using my eyes, to
delve into and
Explore those subtle
nuances of
Higher perceptions,
and to feel
The hidden layers of
life.
A favorite Simon &
Garfunkel song
begins, "Cloudy, the
sky is gray and
white and cloudy...
feels like it's
hanging down on
me..." and the mood
Is there. Go slow, let
go of your aimless
Rush of movement
and racing thoughts.
This is a resting day,
a slowdown day, a
Sit down day, and it's
okay forget your
worries.
I no longer complain
of these cloudy and
Rainy days, in stead I
embrace and absorb
Them, feel them and
lower my faster
sunny
Pace to their slower
rhythm, that feels so
Right and natural. I
remember a good
friend
Who once said, "I love
it! How many more
times in my life will it
rain? To walk in it?"
And so he embraced
the rain, and I add
To his refreshing
insight, the cloudy
days,
I hear you, old friend,
I understand what
You meant, how
many times we
never
Appreciate the
simple things, but
now I do.
