A promoter of culture and tradition in Ibadan land, Oyo State, Mr Innocent Nwosu has been honoured with a masquerade chieftaincy title by the Olori Alagbaa of Ibadan, Chief Abimbola Alesulode.

Chief Nwosu, a businessman, who hails from Obosi, Idemini Local Government Area of Anambra State, was recently honoured with Agbaakin Apinni-Oje of Alesulode Compound, Beere, Idi-Agba, in Ibadan South-East Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking with Community News, Chief Alesulode disclosed that apart from the fact that Nwosu had been living in Ibadan for many years, he had also used his resources to promote the culture and tradition of Yoruba people, particularly the Egungun festival in Ibadan land.

According to Chief Alesulode, “before Mr Nwosu was honoured with this title, he underwent some test. We asked questions that have to do with the title we gave him and he passed. In fact, he speaks Yoruba fluently along with Esa eegun. He is a great man.

“If every tribe can emulate Mr Nwosu, there won’t be Boko Haram and everywhere would be peaceful in this country.”

Chief Alesulode also commended the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade I, and all masquerade chieftaincy title holders in Ibadan land for deeming it fit to select Nwosu, among others who were equally qualified for the title.

Some dignitaries at the event were Olori Alagbaa of Ibadan land, Chief Ojetunde Asoleke; Iyalode Apinni-Oje of Ibadan land, Chief (Mrs) Shefinat Ojegbemi; Oluwo of Ibadan land, Chief Akeem Hammed; Iya Agan Ojefunke, among others.
