The Nigeria Integrated Power Plant Omotosho 2 Power Station in Ondo State has been officially commissioned by President Goodluck Jonathan.

President Jonathan at the commissioning disclosed that by the end of the first quarter of 2014, 10 independent power projects would have been commissioned.

He added that the decision to privatise the power sector is in the long term gain for the nation which is aimed at expanding the economy.

Speaking earlier, Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko pleaded with the federal government to complete the new power substations in the state with their associated feeder lines to improve power generation for industrial and commercial purposes.

He promised that Ondo State will do everything to protect the power plant against vandalisation.

The 530 Megawatts Omotosho Power station Phase 2 project is the second of the 10 Nigerian Independent Power Projects (NIPP) under the management of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NDPHC) Limited to be inaugurated.

The 10 power plants include the already inaugurated 434MW Geregu II, inaugurated on 4th October, Calabar 630MW, Egbema 378MW, Ihorvbor 504MW and Gbarain 252MW.

Others are Sapele 504MW, Omoku 252MW, Alaoji 1076MW, and Olorunsogo 750MW.

GEJ is a movement, by the time all the power plants are commisioned and dangote refinary comes on stream then ranting opposition groups would have known what they jamed.
GEJ is different from Pdp, infact he is the only hope for Pdp at fedral level

Thank you obasanjo.
Now is the time for him to build his own power stations from scratch without borrowing so that the next man can commission something too.

Thanks for mentioning that to ignorant little kids who have no idea or the usual tribalists who can never acknowledge the work of Obasanjo, only because of his name! Obasanjo initiated many of the IPPs and I remember hearing names like Omotosho, Geregu, Papalanto, etc as far back as Obasanjo's days!
