"Wealth is a tool of freedom. but the pursuit of wealth is the way to slavery"
~Frank Herbert, author of God of Emperor Dune~

Do you dream of owing no one anything - no loan, bills, mortgage, or any debts?

Although many people wish to be rich or wealthy, very few people act or plan towards it. In a book titled "Secrets of the Millionaire Mind: Mastering the Inner Game of Wealth: by T. Harv Eker. This book highlighted 17 things that rich people do differently from the average Joe.

The purpose of this blog is to help you build your mindset from ordinary to extraordinary. Hopefully, you will be spurred to greatness and achieving your goal of not accumulating riches, but living wealthy. What's the difference? riches is 'abundant resources.' Wealth is the 'supplies that produce abundant of resources.' Below are 14 out of the 17 ways Eker mentioned in his book. You can start today!

1. Rich People Think “I Create my Life”
This may sound a bit proud or atheistic. However look at it like this: take full responsibility for your decisions, most especially your spending or saving habits. Life happens; however, your method or way of dealing with it determines your status of wealth. Are you the type that saves up for emergency fund and miscellaneous OR do you have the itch to shop, shop, SHOP? If you're a shopaholic, the first step is to admit that you like to, not only shop but spend. There's just something about your bank card or cash that makes you want to drive by a store. This applies to both men and women, especially the men who are drawn to gadgets, tools, and video games.

2. Rich People Play the Money Game to Win
This second step addresses taking action. Even the bible says faith without work is dead. Therefore, you have to 'play the money game' - that is, aim at being wealthy, not just rich. What you choose to do with your money is your choice. I'm not going to make any assertion or suggestions. Nevertheless, create a plan.

3. Rich People Are Committed to Being Rich
If wishes were horses, then beggars would ride. Many people dream of breaking off poverty, lack, or simply managing/squeezing the resources. I call the latter 'living from paycheck to paycheck.' The dictionary defines 'commitment' as "an obligation, promise, or pledge that restricts one's freedom of action.'

4. Rich People Think Big
If your dreams and goals will help just your family, think BIGGER. If you have enough money to sustain you for 3 months, think BIGGER. It's amazing that wealth is equivalent to power, just as knowledge is comparable to power. It's usually the rich that controls the poor, and the borrower is a servant to the lender.
If you set your mind to it, You can make it happen. You'll also be amazed at the increased passion you'll develop to get to your goal.

5. Rich People Focus on Opportunities
There are certain that may happen in life which are beyond our control like natural disasters (hurricane, flood, forest fires, tornadoes, etc.) or the death of a loved one. Nevertheless, you can look at each "CHANCE" life presents to you as an opportunity or obstacle. Wealthy people focus on opportunities. They're on alert for ways to boost their company and investments, earn more profit, and gain new accounts. What are you focusing on...do you see chances as a hindrance or opportunities

6. Rich People Admire Other Rich And Successful People
Rich people are encouraged by success stories. This way of thinking pushes them further towards their greater goals. It's amazing how people generally want to give and 'bless' people who are well-off and rich, rather than poor people. Eker advises readers to think positively about wealth. Some people have been trained to believe that money is evil; so accumulation of wealth or riches is automatically evil too. I beg to disagree. When you love money so much that it becomes your only priority, there may be a problem. When you have positive feelings about wealthy, you'll develop a tendency to work for it.

7. Rich People Associate with Positive, Successful People
Modelling is one of the primary ways we learn. If you associate with positive & successful people, not only can you learn from them, but you’ll also start to think… “if they can do it, why can’t I?” There's a proverb that says 'Birds of a feather flock together.' Who do you move or associate with? are they positive, goal-oriented, and ambition-driven people? So, don't just admire rich people, associate with them. Don't be intimidated by their financial status; rather, learn what works, so you can practice it too.

8. Rich People Are Willing to Promote Themselves And Their Value
Many of us have been brainwashed to think that promoting ourselves is boastful and to be avoided. Pride is defined as a high or inordinate opinion of one's own dignity, importance, merit, or superiority, whether cherished in the mind or displayed in one's conduct. On the other hand, promotion is act or means of encouraging the sales, acceptance of a product especially through advertising or publicity. Pragmatically, most rich people are excellent and effective promoters. They know how to promote themselves, their ideas and their products with enthusiasm. They are prepared, ready to deliver a compelling pitch about themselves, how they achieve success, and the growth of their products.

9. Rich People Are Excellent Receivers
To earn large sums of money for your work and products, you must become comfortable with receiving large sums of money. This is a great practice for improving your receiving skills. When someone offers you a compliment, simply accept it and say thanks. Don’t look for something to compliment the other person. If you have any positive response, go ahead; otherwise, there's no need to fabricate something. Simply accept.

10. Rich People Choose to Get Paid Based on Results
If you want to become rich, choose to work in a pay-for-performance environment. You can choose to work in your own business or in a commission-based or bonus-based job. If you’re confident in your abilities and skills, this arrangement will motivate you more, and it will earn you a lot more money.

11. Rich People Focus on Their Net Worth
Generally, when we think of wealth we think in terms of how much a person makes a in year . But wealth is much more than that. There are four major elements of wealth: income, savings, investments, and cost of living (expenses). Savings and investment should be substantial in comparison to the expenses.

12. Rich People Manage Their Money Well
This is fairly self-explanatory: to become rich you need to be serious about money management. If you save and lack the skill to manage the money, you'll destroy it or it'll destroy you. Using your spare money optimally, avoiding credit card interest, and only spending on useful things are great places to start.

13. Rich People Have Their Money Work Hard For Them
Once you have some money saved up, INVEST it. There’s no reason to leave money sitting in your bank account. Someone once told me that money has wings to fly away; so tie it with something, invest - so it can multiply. Passive income is an incredibly powerful wealth-creating vehicle and the sooner you get started, the better. Think outside the box on how to procreate wealth.

14. Rich People Act in Spite of Fear
Most rich folks are risk-takers. They study their investments - or hire an investor to do it for them, and based on knowledge, act. Most decisions in life are time-sensitive. We don't get to sit on that job offer or choice of career/degree. If you want to create wealth, you have to boldly face your fears. Fear can intimidate and hold you back. Don't be afraid to make mistakes; mistakes is generally one of the best life teachers. So, act in spite of your fear!

Fear will never completely go away, but it’s the ability to “feel the fear & do it anyways” that separates those who create their dream life and those who simply dream about it.

So........
Note, this doesn't mean rich people are perfect. Sometimes, they are suicidal, anxious, frantic, and addicts - when they have no peace of mind. This post is to help you see some of the helpful tools that has helped other average income earners become rich. Creating great wealth is within your reach, but it starts with your mind.

What do you need to work on? or do you disagree with Eker's list and pointers?

When running a business, it may seem like there are never enough hours in the day. Tapping into the power of mornings, a time of day when there are less demands, might be the key to increasing your productivity.

It is no surprise that successful people hatch out their best working moments carefully based on when their productivity is per excellence which is most like the wee hours of the day when there is a subtle calm ambiance and the mind is well rested to generate fresh ideas.

Here are 3 benefits to getting out of bed earlier to attend to that business:

1. You are less likely to get distracted in the morning. An entrepreneur’s day fills up fast. If you wait until the afternoon or evening to do something meaningful for yourself such as exercising or reading, you’re likely to push it off the to-do list altogether. There are going to be reasons why you can’t tackle a personal priority at 4 p.m. — things have a lot less likelihood of coming up at 6 a.m.

2. You have more willpower early in the day. Even if you aren’t a morning person, you may have more willpower in the early hours than later in the day. “Willpower is like a muscle [that] becomes fatigued with over-use,” During the course of the day as you’re dealing with difficult people, attending a business meetings, making decisions or battling with Lagos traffic, you use up your willpower, leaving you feeling depleted toward the end of the day with one thing in mind, sleep!

3. Mornings give you the opportunity to set a positive tone for the day. If you’ve ever slept in past your alarm clock or having a bad hair day, you know that starting off the day with a failure can bring down your mood and affect your productivity at work. However, waking up earlier allows you to start the day with a victory and set the tone for a happier and more productive day as you have enough time to set right anything that may seem to go wrong.

If the thought of waking up at sunrise makes you cringe, not to worry keeping a time journal and planning your morning ahead can help tremendously. Once you have decided what you want to do with your extra time, plan how to execute it, and set as much up as possible the night before. For example, if you want to exercise in the morning, lay out your clothes the night before, pack your bag and whatever you will need for the day. You will be better for it.

Good tips but doing all these isn't a guarantee that one will be rich. Nice though.
