CULTURE: the ways of lives of people or the ways people lives. CAREER: One's calling in life ,or a person's occupation, or one's profession. From time immemorial CULTURE have been ways of recognitions of a certain people and it goes a long way affecting everything in the day to day activities . Before the 20th century , people showed great priorities to their cultural values and myths. Without cultural backgrounds or good cultural background it was impossible to : 1. SOCIALIZE: nobody would allow their children to mingle or form clique with you if your cultural background is bad. 2. MARRIAGE : Culture influenced almost all the marriages in those days. For man to marry a lady, he must make thorough investigations about the lady cultural up bringing. 3. SUPERIORITY: when you hail from a region with high and respected cultural values , it makes you more important to your counterparts. Like the bini's where always more dominant in every occasions because of historic cultural superiorities traced from the conquest of oba eweka dynasty, . 4. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: in every gatherings people identifies themselves from the cultural territory. Eg, I'm from ota, ijebu, abriba, okija, otikpo, and so on. BUT In this current days CAREERS have taken over cultural heritages, we now hear. 1.SOCIALIZE: people with even careers now move together. when you are the odd career holder in a gathering, you faces a lot of ridicules and what ever you say would be inconsequential , because most of the discussions would be career related. 2. MARRIAGE: people now place spouses careers as prerequisites in marriages. I must marry a doctor, a lawyer, an engineer, web designer. And so on. 3. SUPERIORITY: people now shows respect to some particular careers than others and that makes the respected career holders more relevant in a gathering. 4. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT: people now introduces themselves as, Barrister this, Dr that and accountant this. Finally, now that culture is gradually fading alway, should we revamp it or not?
