The Academic Staff Union of Nigerian
Universities are expected to call of
their strike anytime soon. The Union

President Jonathan which began on
Monday after 2pm and lasted till after

After the meeting, the Union said the

and that they would take the message
of the President back to their
members.
The ASUU delegation which comprised
current President, Dr. Nasir Isa Faggae
and past presidents Prof. Abdulahi

Nigeria Labour Congress, Abdulawahid Omar and that of the Trade. Union
Congress, Bobboi Kaigama, were all smiles as they exited the meeting giving
an indication that the impasse may finally have reached a compromise.
Earlier on Monday, ASUU leadership also met with Senate President, David
Mark. At that point, MArk said he was certain the strike would soon be
called off.

Thy have no option but to agree with FG or risk a forceful reopening of Nigerian Universities.
Enough is enough. ASUU cannot continue to hold the system down continually and expect to be pampered.
Rubbish!

Sincerely, I must commend mr President for the way he handled this ASUU strike. Right from the first day it started, he has deployed subtle negotiations and diplomacy to seek an end to it. The climax of it all was his decision to meet with ASUU directly yesterday.
I understand this is the first time a Nigerian President is engaging in such a direct meeting with ASUU. I can't wait to hear an official announcement suspending the strike.
