The All progressives Congress (APC) said on Wednesday night in Abuja that it was ready to provide alternative governance to uplift the country.

Muhammadu Buhari, a leader of the APC, said this during a special dinner organised by APC governors.

Mr. Buhari, a former military ruler, said that the party had planned to provide leadership and direction for the country. He said that the African continent and international community were waiting to see if Nigeria could offer leadership role in the continent.

The politician said the party would ensure that there would be no rigging in 2015 election.

“As we come together, we will be strong enough to prevent election rigging,” he said.

On the national conference, Mr. Buhari maintained that it was not bad, but questioned the processes that would be involved.

He said that the party would not support it, pointing out that the party was not sure of the implementation of its outcome.

“What are the reflections on major hearings of National Assembly (NASS) in the last 12 months, on Power Holding Company of Nigeria, pension funds and the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)?

“No tangible action has been taken on the outcome of these probes while the government just hopes these problems will go away, the problems will continue to demand answers and solutions,” he said.

Mr. Buhari said that Nigerians deserved basic amenities including security, food, shelter, sound education and better health services.

“In the light of these situations many patriotic Nigerians decided to come together, overlook differences and form a new movement which will rescue our country from collapse.”

“Our aim is to hold the country together, select the very best and most capable people to manage our affair and our resources to bring Nigeria out of poverty in to peace and prosperity,” he said.

In his speech, the Interim National Chairman of the APC, Bisi Akande, advised party members to intensify efforts in strengthening internal democracy.

Mr. Akande urged the people to support Chris Ngige to win the Anambra governorship election due to hold on November 16.

Also speaking, the former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu, called on progressive-minded Nigerians to close ranks with a view to bringing positive changes to the polity in the country.

Mr. Tinubu said that the country should not be suffering from high rate of unemployment and poverty with its rich material resources. He said the APC was formed as a child of necessity to save the country from its present political, economic and social problems.

In his remark, Mr. Ngige said he was confident that he would win the Anambra gubernatorial election with the support of the members of the party.
