Touch Of Bodashee: Diary Of A Growing Business by Nobody: 6:45pm On Nov 08, 2013
Hello everyonone. My name is Bodashee. I'm a fresh graduate and I just started my own business called TOUCH OF BODASHEE. It involves providing pastries (chin, coconut chips, coconunut candy, cookies, crusted groundnuts, etc) to people for events and parties, coporate compensation, individual requests, etc. However, I have a time job at a new web based tv station, and another hustle that involves selling female clothing and accessories.
My aim is to update the activities concerning TOUCH OF BODASHEE on a daily basis, challlenges, joys, its baby steps of growth towards a better future. And how my job and other personal activities affect this business.
Dear Nairalanders, I am a rookie, so your comments, observations, support and advice will be greatly appreciated. This business is now our collective baby. Updates start tomorrow night. God bless you.

Madam, I am really excited at the direction you are leading your life smiley

A woman of virtue MUST be industrious, MUST be enterprising. How do you juggle all three business activities without any suffering? Personally, I like to have various businesses that revolves around my passions, interests, hoobies and specialised skills.Lol.

So, please talk about how you manage your time to deliver excellently on these activities, we can learn, share and most importantly YOU will be able to use it as a basis for evaluation, maybe check your focus level.

Finally, please STOP calling yourself a hustler, you are an entrepreneur. wink

Re: Touch Of Bodashee: Diary Of A Growing Business by Nobody: 7:15pm On Nov 09, 2013
Whew. Its been quite a day. TOUCH OF BODASHEE got her first ever order on Tuesday. 20 plates of pastries @ N400 per head for a birthday holding tomorrow (sunday). So I went to the market to get the pastries ready, buy cling film to cover the pastries in their plates, and pick up the stickers I asked a printer to make with my business logo and contact on it against tomorrow's job.

First to get the pastries. Check.

To go and pick up the stickers..........that's where wahala started. The dude said he didn't do it because I priced the stickers yesterday night. Isn't it just normal that he should have let me know if he won't reduce the price or not yesterday? Instead, he kept mum, so I assumed he wasn't going to reduce the price but would continue with the priniting. I was so angry because I knew tomorow is a sunday and there is hardly any chance that I can give anyone such a job today and get it tomorrow. So I left the shop, resolving never to do business with him again. Maybe God even wanted to help me save my money sef because he gave me a price of N2,500 for 200 stickers , and the picture quality of what he designed was way less than the logo I gave him to work with. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Next, I entered the Oke Aarin market to buy cling film and I acheived that without much ado, after which I took a bus back to Obalende so that a very tired me could link Yaba, and ultimately Palmgroove.

Now I'm home. I ate first, and I've finished wrapping all the pastries and kept them so that if any eventuality arises tomorow, it won't hit me to a point of not being able to deliver with punctuality.

And now I yawn. Tomorow, I'll let you all know how it went at the party.

All the great men and women of life do not wait for opportunities to come to them, they make a move and walk towards opportunity, you have taken the bold step and in few years, you will be shocked at how far you have gone.

Congratulations and please no matter what you do . . . Remember that without the client, you have no business, so treat them like king and you will go places.

Re: Touch Of Bodashee: Diary Of A Growing Business by Nobody: 6:51pm On Nov 10, 2013
As I prepared for the party, I just kept feeling incomplete without the stickers on my goods. And to make matters worse, the dress I wanted to wear was not ready, so I had to improvise. The whole thing was making me so uncomfortable because I'm a staunch beleiver in the power of appearance. I believe that if a product or business person looks shaby or is not well packaged, it sends a message to the client that you're hungry and they are doing you a favour by patronizing you. So I always aspire to look I-can-afford-my-own-services kind of good. And my products too must have a we-have-a-standard kind of look. Anyways, I'll do the best I can and put the rest in God's hands.

I got to the party around 3:00pm. Guests were sparsely seated. Handed over the already packed pastries to the celebrant's wife, who was overseeing the welfare of guests. Stayed there to celebrate with them for a while, and also observe people's approach to the pastries. Thankfully, lots of people enjoyed them, and some even came asking for my contact.

Left the place around 6:00pm, so I could get home on time and prepare for the working week.

I'm supposed to go to the celebrants office on Tuesday to collect the payment. I hope that works out welll, because I've still not thought of what I'll tell my boss when I'm going to leave the office. God help me. Till then sha.

Tomorrow I'll start scouting for a printer who will print out my stickers for me.

Till then.......

May the new week bring us all good things.

Re: Touch Of Bodashee: Diary Of A Growing Business by Nobody: 7:55pm On Nov 11, 2013
Today was quite uneventful. I spent the whole day at home. I didn't go to work because I was asked to use today to do some work which I had already done during the weekend.
Around afternoon, someone called me to prepare samples of my pastries against friday so he could show them to someone for me.
I made some calls, still scouting for a printer who can give me a satisfactory deal on the stickers.
I also started ruminating over the idea of doing the chin-chin in quantities that could sell for N50 and giving that to shop owners around me to sell for a little monthly fee.
Lots of people are owing me from my business and its really disturbing me because its tying down the capital I should be using to grow TOUCH OF BODASHEE, sending samples out to people and all that. Its quite discouraging but I know God is in control.
I'm preparing to go and collect the payment for sunday's deliveries tomorow.

I pray God be with me. And with all of us as we go about our businesses. May the new day bring us all good things.

I am so happy to see that things are working our well for you.

People always owe when it comes to business but you will have to create a ration/formula of what you are comfy with and that wont affect your business . . . . Say 10%, if your your business running capital is 1M Naira, you will make sure that amount owed is not more than 100K Naira, but all that will depend on your financial buffer.

Also, for the printer you are looking for, what kinda printer is that?

@ Olorogun KKB! Na you biko *dancing skelewu and azonto mixed together with yahoozey*. Three gbosa's for you sir!!! Thanks so much. I'll send you a pm sir.

@ fhemmy thankyou sir. The debtors are from the clothes business and you are very right. I will do my best to heed your advice. The printer I'm talking about is those people who print handbills, complimentary cards, etc.

@cheksbry sir, thanks for the insightful reminder about the packaging. I am doing my best to ensure that the packaging is on point. And concerning the scaling, etc, I'll keep learning as I go, although to a large extent , I have a good grasp of it.

Pls dis one that Ma'am Spicy is MIA tonight, I wee cry o.
