Former US Ambassador to Nigeria, John Campbell has said that there are at least 115 US Dollar billionaires in Nigeria.

He made the revelation in his book titled “Nigeria – Dancing on the brink”. The Ambassador said that he received the information from a top New York investment bank executive with knowledge of offshore accounts and asset records of high profile Nigerians.

Forbes puts the number of dollar billionaires in Nigeria at 2, a gross understatement of the public wealth hidden in private pockets of politically exposed persons. However in their defense, Forbes only measures corporate assets i.e. wealth that can be traced to shareholdings in listed companies.

He stated this while describing the corruption in the Nigeria and the immense poverty plaguing the nation.

John Campbell was the US Ambassador to Nigeria between 2004 and 2007.

Whenever I read Forbes List of Nigeria Millionaires, I just dey smile.
Nigerians with political contact and those working in the oil and gas Industries are
actually Billionaires in US dollars. They are not interested in making Forbes list to
avoid EFCC and ICPC questioning them their source for such enormous wealth.

They rather build their private Presidential Palace in Banana Island or Dubai and enjoy their
wealth quietly without interference from anti fraud agencies.

I billion dollars = 160billion naira. Chai!

If money can buy or extend life Yar'adua and Abacha would have been alive today. Death came when they were at the peak of it all. This should have been a lesson to our thieving politicians.

In the next 15 - 20 years Obasanjo, IBB, Buhari, Tinubu, Tukur etc will be using a support to stand up and walk. Their loot will not help them when the permanent resting place (grave) is calling.
