This man(or woman) called iterator is funny.
And you'd still call that picture you showed us a manufacturing plant or an assembly plant. Which part of the vehicle is produced by them or you think manufacturing means putting things from different people together in your own way? .....
I don't expect them to build an engine plant or produce brake callipers but then...the picture you put up could easily be the inside of a technical college or polytechnic in Ilorin self and you're there calling someone foolish and throwing names around.
There's nothing on that your picture that shows anything serious.

iterator25: you're so uninformed.. pls don't comment on thingz you know little about
And you that you're so informed hasn't contributed anything worth reading by your comment.
Are you talking about military armoured car or manufacturing an armored car cos they're different things.
Not all cars are made for war and the Hummer is one of the beautiful adaptation of a military armoured car.
Most luxurious car makers have an armoured version if their high end cars and there are different levels to it.
So what type are they producing and what level are they adding to it is more informative for the forum than your rants that isn't much different from the person you're attacking

L.M Ayedun..:
As interest in armoured luxury cars rises among the upper class, some Nigerian auto firms have intensified research work on the armouring technology.

Already, an indigenous automobile manufacturer, Proforce Limited, has commenced the production of Armoured Personnel Carriers.

Proforce said it had sealed a pact with Defence Industries Corporation and some para-military organisations for the production.

The Minister of Aviation, Ms. Stella Oduah, is currently facing criticism for allegedly forcing the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority to buy two armoured cars for her.

Wealthy Nigerians and top public office holders import a number of armoured vehicles.

The Managing Director, Proforce, Mr. Ade Ogundeyin, said in a statement obtained on Friday that his firm was currently working with the Defence Industries on the APCs, just as he stressed it was equipped to armour other categories of vehicles.

He criticised the idea of importing armoured vehicles, saying it did not make economic sense for Nigerians to continue to import what was available locally.

“There is no need for government or anybody to import bulletproof or armoured vehicles. It is a waste of resources.

“Why import at very high cost when there is capacity to produce better vehicles at comparatively lower prices locally? This is an issue I hope the new auto policy will address.”

Ogundeyin said the armouring materials were resistant to AK-47 gunshots and assaults with improvised explosive devices, stressing that the vehicles would run on special flat tyres that could endure several kilometres of journey even when deflated.

The Proforce boss also expressed support for the recently developed auto plan, describing it as one of the best policies of the President Goodluck Jonathan administration.

He said if fully implemented, the document was capable of boosting industrial activities in the sector and contributing towards the achievement of government’s targets for the economy by 2020.

He aligned with the thrusts of the new auto policy, which were to encourage investment, enhance technological development and revive production activities in the industry.

Ogundeyin said, “This is a laudable plan which is capable of transforming the local industry. The impact will be felt in many ways, including the establishment of many small- and medium-scale support industries, job creation and increase in capacity utilisation.

“But a lot will depend on whether government has the will to fully implement the policy, especially the area that concerns their agencies or departments buying locally made vehicles. Another critical area that requires firm action on the side of government is the one that introduces stiffer tariff structure for fully built imported vehicles.”

Good start, kudos! These guys might not have fully automated factory like in China or Europe but their ability to produce the vehicle with crude equipment, shows a lot of determination and doggedness that is required if you want to produce anything in a country like ours. For this reason I commend them. I don't care if they import knocked-down parts and even fit it by hand; all that matter is, they have started and can only improve. And if the work space is your problem, it would serve you well to know the best inventions/products started from ordinary people's private garage/backyard... This company is really doing well and I can tell they are going places see this

As for those of you calling this a Technical School Project, am so ashamed we still have myopic people like you who will never see, appreciate or promote your own! Why is it that you won't just give the ones' trying a breathing space rather than bad mouthing at the slightest opportunity! I just hope it would not be too late for us in Nigeria to realise acquisition of technology is race... If we don't start from the crude, we would most certainly continue to be dependent on other countries for even the lowest of technology to our disadvantage!

Forget the technology transfer crap, the Asian Tigers never had any, and they can tell you better... When the chips are down, we will all know where we stand in the grand scheme of things. Already reality of this is hitting us hard - I only hope we will wake-up and not continue to be zero-class citizens of the modern world...

its so funny how dumb nigerians will call these Vehicles secondary school projects, nigerians are the HIV viruses bedevilling the country and our leaders are the much more developed AIDS virus that emanate from the likes of these. APC's are not meant to be flashy, if you want to judge them by looks. They are not used to impress your girlfriend uh.... Citizens of developed/developing countries cant castigate their country as much as nigerians do even with' d likes of ghadaffi nd mugabe as president..smh

Posts like this makes me so sad .. the biggest problem in Nigeria is ignorance. I just knew that the cynicism is cool brigade would flood this thread spreading their ignorance and dumbness.

Proforce is a Nigerian company employing Nigerians and trying to increase our capacity in the security and defense industry. Already they have been working wirh Dicon and producing Ballistic Helmet, Bullet Proof Vest etc for our forces.. They have also upgraded to making Armed Personal Carriers which has proven to be very effective especially in Coin (Counter Insurgency) Operations.

In most first world countries, defence innovation is paid for by the Defence ministry to provide capabilities for the present and future. However no kobo was received from our MOD on the Leopard ACV Block 1 development as it should be the case with first world militaries. Here what we do is slander our own even though many of those who speak her do not even know what APC, MRAP, means They have no freaking clue than to type the non-sense emanating from their moronic brains.

And yes the suspension has been changed(reinforced) to handle the weight. have been shot at, had explosive material detonated underneath them and driven over test courses with deep and loose sands to simulate desert conditions. They have been comprehensively tested. The finishing should give an idea of just how thorough their work and quality assurance has been.

A sane people would be happy that such an innovation is coming from their community. Rather what we have are people who can not even produce a pin or even have a clue with APC is all about yarning BS

The made in Nigeria PROFORCE PF2 Mk.II Armoured Patrol Vehicle is the alter ego of the Otokar Akrep. Has we can see the forward facing turret is for anything between a 12.7 mm HMG (Heavy Machine Gun) and a 23mm Cannon.. the two rear pintles can take a GPMG ( General Purpose Machine Gun). This is really good development and Proforce really should be commended. If we add their effort to that of DICON which has been able to produce their own APC and now makes bullet proof vest, night vision goggles and balistic helmet. The commissioning of NNS Adoni seaworth defence boat, the drone project work by NAF in conjunction with Innoson motors.. I think all this spell good for the home grown defense industry. One can only hope that this efforts are sustained and improved on. Maybe one day we can start to look into exporting Defense oriented materials to other west african, african and even the world. Proforce effort really should be commended not put down.
