Oyo Establishes State Security Trust Fund by Ayekotoo(m): 12:56pm On Nov 13, 2013
PEACE and security of lives and property may not be totally guaranteed if left to any single government to provide, Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State said as he solicited private support and participation in the task of maintaining peace and order in the state.
Ajimobi, who inaugurated the board of trustees of the Oyo State Security Trust Fund (OYSTF) at the Governor’s Office Tuesday, said the vision of his administration is to turn things around for the better in the interest of the generality of the people and to evolve a consistent socio- economic development system that is free of apprehension.

According to Ajimobi, OYSTF was established as a partnership between the state government and key stakeholders in the private sector to provide the funding to equip the security services in the state. He noted that “OYSTF builds on the existing template of Ajumose (collectivity) in resolving a key challenge to effective management of security challenges in the state.
“Through public private partnership, Oyo State would have an enabling environment for sustained funding of the security services in return for credible management of all security threats.”
He disclosed that the fund would operate as an intervention agency for the mobilisation and provision of funds for a sustained and adequate operation of the security services.
Therefore, he charged members of the committee to ensure adequate mobilization of resources from both public and private sectors to realise the objective.
Earlier, Ayeni said the establishment of the fund was a step in the right direction and commended the Ajimobi-led administration for involving the private sector in the task of resolving security problem in the state.
