Super Eagles Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, has showered praises on Nigeria soccer fans for standing solidly behind his team and motivating them to qualify for the Brazil 2014 World Cup.
Speaking at the post match conference, Keshi said he was grateful to the passionate fans who always prayed for the success of the team.
The Eagles gaffer also spared time to applaud the Nigeria Football Federation, the Sports Ministry, the Cross Rivers State Government and the Presidency, for all the support given to see Nigeria’s flag fly high in Brazil in 2014.



“I am so grateful to all Nigerians for their support and prayers that really helped us in securing this ticket, I also want to appreciate the efforts of the NFF, Sports Minister, Governor Imoke, and everybody that contributed in one way or the other to see us qualify for Brazil 2014,” Kechi said.
Speaking on the 2-0 victory, Coach Keshi admitted that it was not the best of performances from his boys but was quick to add that what mattered most was qualifying for the World Cup.
“The boys wanted to do many things fast at the same time so it affected their game, it was not one of our best displays no doubt but the target was that we wanted the Brazil ticket which we got. We still have many other games ahead to play beautiful football,” the coach stated.
On his part, Ethiopia Coach, Swenet Bishaw. blamed his team’s loss on bad officiating from the Gambian referee in charge. According to him , the referee actually aided the Eagles victory and denied his ambitious side the chance of making it to the World Cup.
“It wasn’t the best of officiate, the referee was against us and helped Nigeria to win,” the furious Coach stated.
Reacting to Bishaw’s statement, Keshi said it would be nice for teams to accept defeat in good fate and not make excuses.
“We defeated them in their country, was that the referee’s help too? Ethiopia is a good side but we are just better,” the Eagles Coach said.
