Jonathan Nominates Ex Governor Declared Wanted By EFCC To Chair Pension by kado(m): 6:47pm On Nov 21, 2013 |
Former Governor of Bauchi State, Ahmadu Adamu Mu’azu has emerged the choice of President Goodluck Jonathan to head the National Pension Commission(PenCom) as its Chairman while M’fon Akpan has been selected as Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service(FIRS). The President forwarded two letters to the Senate which were read on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday for the confirmation of theduo in accordance with the law. Former governor Muazu who the president has now nominated to chair the Pensions Commission was accused by the EFCC of embezzling millions of naira belonging to Bauchi state when he served as governor of the state between 1999-2007. During the heat of the EFCC’s investigations against him, Muazu left the country for some time. When he returned, there were reports that the EFCC had cleared him of wrongdoing. However the commission released a statement saying that “we wish to state emphatically that ex-governor Adamu Muazu is still being investigated and therefore could not have been cleared of graft allegations against him.” Shortly afterwards the case, like many others, simply died. Now the president wants Muazu to be chairman of the Pension Commission which has had its own share of controversy in recent times as a result of the defrauding of pensioners in the country. The names of Chinelo O. Anohu-Amazu (South East), Omotowa Reuben Gilbert (North Central), Mohammed Ka’oje Abubakar(North West) and Adesojo O. Olaoba-Efuntayo(South West) were also forwarded to the Senate for confirmation as Commissioners of the Pension Commission. In a letter titled, “Appointment of the Chairman and full-time Commissioners for the National Pension Commission”, the President stated that following the expiration of the tenure of the Chairman, DG and the Commissioners of the Commission, he decided to nominate those listed for confirmation in line with the provisions of Sections 16(3) and 17(1) of the Pension Reform Act, 2004, which provides that the President shall appoint the Chairman, Director-General and other members of the commission other than the ex-officio subject to ratification by the Senate. On the part of the Internal Revenue Service, Jonathan stated that he was complying with Section 11a of the Federal Inland Revenue(Establishment) Act, 2007, which provides that “the executive Chairman shall be appointed by the President subject to confirmation by the Senate”, by forwarding M’fon Akpan’s name to the upper legislative chamber for the post. www.thescoopng.com/pres-jonathan-nominates-ex-bauchi-governor-who-was-declared-wanted-by-the-efcc-to-chair-pensions-commission/ |

gtrust: people falling in line for 2015JESUS!!!!!! and this is coming out of the mouth of a well meaning Nigerian? So what happens if the guy continued his stealing streak and deprived millions of our retirees their pensions? After your 2015 what happens, you, myself, gej and every Nigerian can not answer that cos we don't know what tomorrow will bring. If the cry of the blood of the innocent that has been shed in this country as a result of corruption and bad governance should be answered , will people like you survive? i wish every Nigerian can pray this prayer according to what they believe in once a day throught the year 2014. "Oh God I pray this day revenge the blood of the innocent that as been shed as a result of corruption and bad governance in this country on our bad leaders and their sympathisers" 3 Likes |

You can take a militant out of the creeks, but you can take the creeks out of him. Jonathan probably thinks he's running a crime family or militant organisation. You can't take a person who has criminality as an inherent trait & place him in a position where due process & intellect is required, it can't work. The person will have to revert to dealing with things the way he knows best, & thats the criminal way. 1 Like |

gerald09:Do you reside in Nigeria? If yes. From 1999-till date can you identify any governor that does not mismanage state funds? Even our dear Fashola, Amaechi and Akpabio! You people should stop referring to black as grey. Billions was sent to the states for infrastructura and human capital development but what do we have all over the land today? Poverty. Can u nominate any governor including the one's that are not alleged to steal public funds by EFCC that can chair Pensions Commission and it will be corruption free? Even our dear Fashola whome some people adjudged to be the best will bring in his Father Tinubu to the system as experienced in Lagos currently. Stop supporting these people stay neutral, judgement day will surely come! One day they will be put to shame, they and their sympathizers. Things can not continue like this forever. 1 Like |

Poverty.U see ur self, I have n will never support corruption n looting, but the story is what I am against NOT the thief. The article says "Million of Naira" that's not fact, when Stella did the car deal, facts n figure n signatures were provided 225million to be exact, and God bless Nigerian we pounced on her, but saying he stole "Million of Naira" is what ur religion calls false accusation. I have not supported or accused him I just want an actual matured information not the usual "who first report" BS. |

Tolexander: exactly the same speculation on James Onanefe Ibori siphoning Delta state fund until he was convincted by the English court!Dude do u read an opinion first b4 making argument, Ibori was found guilty cos fact n figures were provided by the English court but he was not found guilty in Nigeria cos informations like dis came up and say Ibori stole "millions of Naira" and u fink dats suffice as an accusation. What if I come up wit d news dat ur had sex with some1's sister. A) its a speculation cos I know u will have s*ex but not sure with who but she must be some1's sister. B) I have not proving fact dat u had s*ex just said something dat is 80% possible but not sure. |
