It was all the news that Mercy Johnson was banned by movie marketers because her fees are too high!
In a recent interview with ENCOMIUM Weekly, she denied the rumour. Excerpts from the interview -

How does it feel to be one of the most
sought after actresses in Nigeria?
It feels good. It makes me realize that
they see the best in me and my work is
being appreciated. I appreciate all the
marketers, producers and colleagues who
have in one way or the other contributed
to my career. Without these people, I
don’t think I could have been where I am
today.

What will you attribute your success
to?
I would have to give all the glory to God.
He has helped me and of course my
husband. I have tried as much as
possible to give my best to the industry
and I cannot say I have arrived yet, but it
is obvious that I am not where I used to
be. I will continue to do more by the
grace of God.

Recently, we learnt you were banned
by movie marketers because of you
high fees, what is your reaction to
this?
The head of marketers told me there is
nothing like that and I am still getting
new scripts. Beyond that, they have been
my major pillar of support and I have
been well behaved too (laughs). If I must
add, majority of them are my big
brothers. So, I don’t know why such
story is flying around.

Would you say marketers are biased?
There is no ban so there is no cause of
being biased.
