It's simply Laziness. Turning them evil is a gimmick to make it seem as if it's not a like for like live action and make viewers not see it as a remake.

Didn't even know WB lost James Wan. I knew Wan signed a co-ownership deal with Universal alongside Jason Blum (Blumhouse) to pull forces together on a horror focused production house. Wasn't aware dude fully jumped ship.

Adding Shyamalan to the WB staple is a solidifier for it's horror department as well as WB easily printing money in box office for dirt cheap production costs.

This movie had mediocrity written all over it. Ridiculous screenplay and an even more atrocious and sometimes down right annoying visual effects that made it seem more like a parody rather than an actual Marvel movie. A shadow of the franchise that held sway from 2008 to 2019.
Two hours of absolutely nothing and watching paint dry would have been a proper use of my time instead of seeing this hot mess. Dim and inconsistent dialogue and dry humour. The only little spark was Jonathan Major, who looked the part...a proper villain with his demeanor but he almost got swallowed up by the atrocious screenplay. I would have liked for this farce charade child's play to have not been his introduction.
The last straw i am giving MCU is GOTG Volume 3, if that fails too, then they are truly done and dusted.
Save your money if you haven't seen it and wait it out to be available on the high seas cuz this ain't it at all...proper gutter quality flick.🗑️🚮
