I believe a lot of us have watched the movie World War Z, and got trilled. I got thrilled too. I had never been a fan of zombie movies because they are too slow and irritating. But this case was different. They were very fast and agile. Imagine the zombies diving from the top of the roof, in determination to prey on the occupants of a hovering helicopter. That was breathtaking. I really enjoyed it. However, these thrills made me not to observe so many goofs in that movie. "goofs ke?" you may ask. U too didn't notice. Don't deny. But what are those goofs? Sit back, relax, and let's cast our memories back to realize what these goofs are. World War Z : Goofs Errors in geography The Pepsi bottles at the WHO offices in Cardiff, UK, have American FDA calorie labels. Factual errors The U.S. Navy does not operate the Antonov An-12. Continuity The airplane that Gerry Lane travels in repeatedly switches between an Antonov An-12 and a Lockheed C-130 Hercules. Factual errors On passenger aircraft such as the Airbus A310 the protagonist boards in Jerusalem, ladders do not automatically extend from access hatches. The hatches have to be opened (and the ladders lowered) manually. Factual errors They use Iridium satellite phones indoors (inside the aircraft carrier, inside the airplane) which is not possible - they need a clear view of the sky. Errors in geography The distance from Korea to Israel is 5000 miles, way outside the maximum operating range of either an AN-12 or C-130. Continuity When Gerry and his family are in the RV his youngest daughter finds a rifle. Gerry grabs it and sets it against the back of the driver's seat. When they leave the vehicle to get an inhaler from the pharmacy, Gerry grabs the rifle from a rifle hanger. Continuity After the grenade explodes in the plane, the pilots put on blue emergency helmets, equipped with oxygen masks. In the following sequence when they appear, they just wear their standard microphone helmets. Continuity At the beginning of the film, in the traffic jam, a motorcycle policeman pulls up and tells Gerry to get back in his car; there is nothing behind him but gridlocked traffic; a second later when he tells Gerry to remain in his vehicle, he's suddenly mown down by a PWD dump truck even though as he's pulling up there's two lanes of cars and taxis backed up to the end of the street with no dump truck in sight and no way for it to charge through unobstructed. Errors in geography As the passenger plane comes into land at Cardiff Airport the background images show Snowdon and other mountains in the Snowdonia region. It would be highly unlikely that a route from Jerusalem to South Wales would take them to North Wales. Continuity The First Zombie Segan shoots (the red haired one) can bee seen being killed again as Segan and the WHO doctor flee, and then again as Gerry crosses the sky bridge Continuity At the few opening shots of the movie the two daughters wake up the parents, Gerry's hands keep changing from behind his head to under the pillow in-front of him. Continuity The UN pin on under secretary Thierry Umutoni's jacket switches from his right hand jacket lapel to his left and then back to the right. Factual errors While on-board the Navy vessel, the radio operator (the one who says "Have you recorded any instance where a person was bitten, but not infected" has two different rank insignias on his collar, one for a lieutenant (O-3), the other for lieutenant commander (O-4) Errors made by characters Dr Fassbach a neurologist from Harvard states that the Spanish Flu didn't exist in 1918. Someone like him should know that 1918 was the year the flu started and was first noticed in January of that year. Continuity When the motorcycle hits the side mirror of Gerry's car in the traffic jam, the mirror falls between Gerry's car and the vehicle in front of him. When Gerry picks up the mirror, it is already in the front wheel of his car. Factual errors When they are done refueling the plane in Korea, the navy seal pulls the hose off like it is a snap on, when in actuality it is a D-1 nozzle which has a lock that has to be turned and then the nozzle itself has to be turned counter clockwise before being taken off. Crew or equipment visible (at around 11 mins) As the RV is driving towards the bridge after breaking though the barricade, there is a cameraman visible to the left of the left Humvee. Errors in geography When Gerry and the other characters are at the W.H.O centre in Wales, the signs in the background located throughout the building are all displayed in English only, however in reality, these signs would more than likely be bilingual; both in Welsh and English. Continuity When Gerry and Sagan leave the W.H.O center in Wales Segen is wearing a black hood over her head. In the next scene, immediately after stepping through that gate, Segen's head not covered up by that black hood. Continuity The escape from Israel is on board an A310. However the interior of the cabin, as shown in the movie, corresponds to a B777 and not an A310. Continuity After the family reaches the apartment and everyone is listening to the radio, the light is clearly on in the fish tank even with the power out. Audio/visual unsynchronized Just before the infected come over the wall in Jerusalem, Gerry says, "If I could get into India, where would I start?" "India's a black hole." The lines originally named Russia, not India, and you can still read Russia on his lips. The editing of the scene fails to completely conceal the second overdub as well. Warning: Spoilers Goofs below here contain information that may give away important plot points. You may not want to read any further if you've not already seen this title. Even a blind man can see the lotsa goofs in our dear Nollywood movies. I could have sworn there were no goofs in this very movie, albeit, fictional. |
