Kairoseki77: Looks nicer than every Nigerian city except Lagos and Abuja.

They had a 40 yr civil war and prospered. Our neighbors in the SE are still crying over a 3 year war and have ZERO development to show.

^^^It appears you and your brothers are just angling for an equally 'tribal' response from an Igbo so this thread can degenerate into the gutter! Your baiting and innuendo is quite apparent!

You want to compare 'your neighbours in the SE' as you put it (a people still shackled to and living in the same country with the very people they fought to see the back of; a people who over the years have systematically marginalized, balkanized and exploited Alaigbo, its people and its resources: economically, politically, militarily and socially).....you want to compare Alaigbo and its people on a like-for-like basis with an independent country such as Mozambique?

Mozambique is a country where all are pulling in the same direction; they have the freedom to exploit and use their resources as, when and how they deem fit; they don't have certain sections of their territory ceded off to others just to deny them the full benefits of what God in his infinite wisdom has blessed them with; they don't have others creaming off 87% of their resources and using it to build and sustain foreign cities/countries, while at the same time being refused the right to govern or attain the highest offices in such places; they don't have others actively working to deny their people access to gov't offices and positions (including the highest office of the land) all in the name of 'we hate them and don't trust them' (and this is inspite of the fact that they wanted to leave in the first place); they don't have others working to deny their commercial/industrial cities investments from abroad....with every other new industrial set-up cornered avariciously by others who go on to shout 'we're the most industrialized....we're the most welcoming!'; etc-etc-etc!

There was talk of the 3Rs after the war (in a period of so much oyel wealth that the Head of State at the time was noted to have said something along the lines of 'Nigeria having so much money that they didn't know what to do with it'), but can you tell me of any projects constructed in the South East in the early 70s like we saw happening in Lagos and other cities like Kaduna/Zaria?

Please stop whining.

The two sides of the civil war are still living together in Mozambique, just like in Nigeria.

The difference is that they stopped whining, crying victim, and got down to work.

Once again, 40 year civil war did not stop them from coming together and achieving.

We should do the same here.

If you know that, so why are you paddling upstream and against Nigeria, the country that gave you amnesty and respite from war? Ibos have no one to blame but themselves! With even the money you get from the federal account alone, you cannot justify it with the development on ground! So, quit looking for excuses - you and your fathers are failures!

^^^Why do you resort to the usual refrain of 'stop whining' when all you need do is counter the points i raised one after the other with your own?......you've not addressed any of the points i made, nor answered the question i asked in the last paragraph!

The Mozambique civil war was different from the one we faced in the sense that theirs was a battle for control of state power, as against ours in which one section of the country had its people targeted openly for slaughter and pogrom; and with the central government of the time either powerless to do anything to protect them, or actually revelling in the killings! In Nigerias' case, one part of the whole wanted out; a war was fought in which they were made to remain in the country against their will; and more than 4 decades down the line the same issues that caused their desire to secede still haven't been addressed.....there has been no apology proffered for the loss of their loved ones pre-civil war, no reparations made, and no reconciliation/reconstruction either!; all they've been told is to forget what happened and move on! The country the so-called victors fought to sustain has never been more fractured and divided than is presently the case, yet they continue to hide their heads in the sand, and occasionally look up only to shout 'one naijeriah'!

Ndigbo are all for giving this 'Nigeria project' a try, but it must be done on the basis of equality of all parts; freedom of all parts to develop at their own pace and use their own resources as, when, and how they deem fit; and finally there should be a less all-powerful/omnipotent federal gov't which could be used by one section to impede the growth of another!

Ndigbo are all for giving this 'Nigeria thing' a try, but it must be done on the basis of equality of all parts; freedom of all parts to develop at their own pace and use their own resources as, when, and how they deem fit; and finally there should be a less all-powerful/omnipotent federal gov't which could be used by one section to impede the growth of another!

If you claim to want a less powerful FG, and for more local political power, why did Igbos vote for OBJ, Yar Adua, and GEJ over Ojukwu in EVERY ELECTION since 1999. Ojukwu never won a single state in Igboland! You all voted for Yar Adua over him, which is ridiculous if what you say your people want is true.

Meanwhile, Yorubas didn't even vote for OBJ in 1999. He lost the entire SW, because we knew his type. Instead we supported and nurtured our own independent politicians, and we have benefitted tremendously from it! The North rallied behind CPC, and now the entire polity is trying to woo their vote!

Igbos have NO ONE else to blame except themselves for following behind any politician who comes along.

You say you want less power concentrated in the FG? Well, APC is the closest we have come in 14 years to devolving the powers of the FG and pursuing true federalism (which is a main part of the APC platform), but which group is most against it? Which group is trying to keep Nigeria a one party state by force? Who is trying to ensure that not only does all the power remain in the FG, but that it all remains in one party as well!

Which group equates every good thing with the FG and never holds their state government responsible? When something bad happens in the SW EVERYONE will hold the Governors feet to the fire. When things go well, we celebrate the Governor. In the SE, the state government is invisible and everyone waits on their knees for the FG to give them development and to solve every problem.

Does the rest of Nigeria spend its days blaming its current situation on the British? No! We take responsibility for our actions, because that ish ended long ago.

Igbos need to stop seeing everyone as their enemy, and start building alliances and making friends. They need to start being more independent. A Yoruba is both a PDP president and another is leader of the APC. Yorubas celebrate both. Igbos attack independent Igbos like Ameachi and rubbish anyone who tries something new, like Ngige. You eat your own young! Ameachi could end up being a powerful Igbo voice in the opposition, but you shut him up and even support an Ijaw President in attacking him! Incredible! If you live as a docile sheep, who can blame the wolf for devouring you?

The smartest thing would be to support Igbos like Ameachi, because they would give your people CHOICE! PDP and APC would be forced to fight over your vote and would have to provide more dividends to you. Instead, you take a back seat, so no one has any incentive to make you happy.

If your people will vote Yar Adua over Ojukwu and Orji, how can you blame others for your problems?

I just want to add that political independence leads to development.

Try naming one group that has developed without control over its own political destiny.

It's impossible.

I think you need to show a lot more respect to places like Lagos. Lagos is a fast-growing, dynamic city that cannot be written off at all!!

Stop thinking of Biafra and start thinking of how Nigeria can go better!

You see South Sudan? We don't want to end up like that o!

If huge, diverse nations like the US, China, and India can come together and develop themselves, why can't Nigeria?

Let's turn the "nigga area" into the finest destination in the world and stop dividing ourselves so that we can be conquered!

No, China was China, India was India but Nigeria is an artificial creation, a union of disparate peoples that enjoy pulling others down.
