Hi all...i scored 249 in jamb and put 'insurance' as my choice of course.. Is there any means i cud change my course to like banking & finance while filling the post utme form?

Change of course form after being admitted for insurance? Or before sitting for the post utme? A friend said i might not be able to change until like 200L, then i can apply for change of course..?

in about 3weeks time,d change of course form will be released by jamb,last yr it costs 4k! . . And with 249,be rest assured you'ld be admitted 4 banking!

Yeah, first of all I want to say HAPPY
MATRICULATION to all the freshers
doing their matriculation today. To be
frank with you, it’s not easy to get
admission in the University of Benin.
Out of the 75,000 candidates that applied
for Uniben in JAMB, about 30,000 qualified
for the POST UME and God singled you
out to be among them. Out of the many
people that wrote the POST UME, God
gave you admission into the University
of Benin. Even after giving you the
admission, God gave you guidance and
protection up till this time. So you have to
THANK GOD for
making you a Unibenite To be
frank with you, it’s many people’s dream
to be students of the Uniben. Even
universities in Nigeria that are acclaimed
to be better than Uniben still respect Uniben.
Have you ever wondered why people
take you special when you tell them that
you are in Uniben (i.e. outside Uniben oh)?
Now let me tell you what you need to
know. The school is a place where there are
many intellects from various parts of the
world; if you are not humble, you might
lose many things in the course of your
study. I hope the pieces advice below
would help you:
1. Choose your friends wisely. Your
friends can determine whether your stay
in Uniben would be fruitful or not. Chose
friends that will help you achieve your
dreams, move away from any friend that
doesn’t help you achieve your dreams.
2. The university is not like secondary
school where they ring the bell just to
make an announcement, learn to read
the notice board. Read every notice
board you see, it keeps you informed;
you might ignore the notice board
without knowing that what you are
running about for is on there.
3. Take your lectures serious, don’t joke
with past questions, they help a lot and
be careful to see whether the past
question you have is original or fake.
4. You need God in your studies; you
can’t make it on your own, join one of
the campus fellowships that will help
you to improve your spiritual life. You
should know the one that you know that
will help your life. Don’t forget that your
primary aim in the school is to pass with
good grades.
5. You can be financially independent on
campus though your parents don’t have
all money. HOW? You have to be
scholarship conscious, because that’s the
easiest way to get money as an
undergraduate especially if you are a
science student. The problem now is,
“How do you know when applications
for these scholarships are on?” check the
notice boards regularly.
6. You don’t need only the course you
are studying to be a great,
try to learn something new apart from
your course of study because you need
to be vast. Attend seminars and
workshop trainings, you learn a lot
there. Though proud people will think
they know it all, it requires humility to
sit under a fellow unibenite to learn
something.
7. If there is something you don’t know,
endeavor to ask people who know. If
you are proud, you won’t learn from
others. Learn to freely ask your friends,
classmates, and lecturers.
8. In the course of my stay in Uniben, I’ve
come to realize that it pays to humble
oneself to learn more and more even if
you think you already know too much. If
you go around claiming that you know
too much, you will see people that are
more than 10 times better of. Uniben is one
school that is filled with many talents
(most of them, yet-to-be-discovered).
Many Uniben students are winning
competitions outside the school which
some people don’t know. For instance, the
likes of mFactor who won Peak talent hunt,
Moses adigwe won Nigeria idols.
9. Never underrate anyone you meet in
the university, because that place has great
men and women that will impact this
country. The person you meet today
might help you in one way or the other
tomorrow. Taking people for granted or
regarding them as not being up to your
class can never help you.
10. Avoid cohabiting with the opposite
sex, it can never help your life.
11. The last but not the least, the university
is one of the places that you will see
high population of people in your life.
Make use of that opportunity and do
enough networking, know people, make
friends. You may not see some of them
again after your studies but they can
help you later in life. Most people in top
positions in government are Unibem
alumni. For instance, the current
governor of Lagos state is a product of
Uniben. You can go to
wikipedia and see the list of others.
