Brother and sister in islam, please i need your help on how to perform istikhara.
A very simple and detailed explanation, with all the dua required for the prayer in transliteration will be appreciated.

Dear brother, it is very unfortunate that Istikhara has become one of the most misunderstood topic in among muslims.
Note just as you need Allah's guidance in every steps of your life (thereby there are certain daily recitation for that), Allah wants you to make use of your senses to reach conclusion.

Islamic procedure in summary about Istikhara (seeking the best):

Aql (intellect); make use of your God given intellect, then Consultation if you can't resolve issues yourself, lastly, special Istikhara du'a if the two method cannot resolve your predicament.

How can seeking for the best from Allah be Bid'ah? No its not. My point is istikhara has been misinterpreted. Today many muslim believe its a kind of fortune-telling. And besides many cast aside sensibility and jump into "istikhara" immediately. Common du'a like "Rabbana atina fi duniya...and al-Fatiha etc are also daily means of seeking the best from Allah. But there are also special types of Istikhara for specific purposes which are advice to be used after one have exhausted his thinking and truth-worthy consultation yet no convincing conclusion; then, perform this special Istikhara and whatever Allah choose is the best.
