Tafawa balewa's govt started from 1960. What d Op gave was pre-independence cabinet. When Igbo were actually the only highly educated ones in nigeria 1 Like |

musiwa112: nigeria had no prime minister from 1957 to 1960.. fraud... You are an enigma. Most respondents, before or after your post including the poster, are imbecilic tribal bigots or egocentric dunces . The listed ministerial appointment is not for the government headed by Tafawa Balewa from 1960 however it was a cabinet led by the colonialists determined by the 1956 federal election. It was a pre-independence cabinet which Tafawa Balewa was a minister of defense. Nonetheless, the list missed one important name as history would have demanded. In addition, the timelines apportioned to the ministries are wrong. |

DerideGull: Mr. Gull, your admonition is grossly misdirected. The OP's title stated that the said cabinet was Tafawa Balew'a cabinet as a Prime Minister and musiwa set the record straight. You yourself supported musiwa's position by confirming that Tafawa Balewa was a minister of defense in the time period mentioned by the OP. In case you are still blind, here's what the OP stated "Prime Minister Abubakar Tafawa Balewa 1957–1966". Yet you come here to spew balderdash. You should be correcting the OP. ode |
Re: Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Cabinet As A Prime Minister by DerideGull(m): 7:56pm On Dec 30, 2013 |
ndu_chucks: Mr. Chucks You are losing the grip on simple academic pedigree. Let me try to make it simple for you. From 1957 to 1960, Tafawa Balewa was not a Prime Minister or the head of government. So it is erroneous on the part of the OP to state "Balewa's Ministers, OFFICE , NAME and TERM with respect to timelines indicated. I would not have said anything if OP had stated Balewa's Ministers from 1960 to 1966. If you examine the list with an eagle eye, you could pick a conflict with Jaja Wachuku's term and office because he was dropped as Foreign Minister during the reshuffle of government when Nigeria became a republic and admitted into United Nation, ode. |

Deride, can you please show us the correct list of ministers under Balewa leadership from 60 - 66? |
Re: Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Cabinet As A Prime Minister by DerideGull(m): 9:23pm On Dec 30, 2013 |
Mayor_of_Lagos: Deride, can you please show us the correct list of ministers under Balewa leadership from 60 - 66? Mayor, it will be difficult to list ministers under Balewa's leadership from 60-66. The turnover of ministerial appointment was simply ridiculous because of change of political rule, party interest and loyalty. It was more stable under the partial colonial rule than when Nigeria gained independence. Let me give you a likely scenario under partial colonial rule. K O Mbadiwe ministerial appointment in Ministry of Commerce ended in 1958 because his loyalty to NCNC was doubted and he bolted from NCNC to UNDP. He lost his appointed to Zana Dipcharima in 1958. Also in education, Adegoke Adelabu was engulfed with trumped up changes of embezzlement, he lost his appointment to Aja Nwachukwu. Dr EML Endeley lost his Labor ministries because of his issues with NCNC and need for autonomy for southern Cameroon. Ribadu also switched with Abubakar Balewa in the ministry of defense in 1961 thereby making way for Yusuf Maitama Sule in Mines and Power. |

Re: Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Cabinet As A Prime Minister by DerideGull(m): 12:32am On Dec 31, 2013 |
ndu_chucks: Mr. Chucks. I simply do not understand what got into your drinking water lately. You can beat the habitual boredom by embarking on exploratory research. Again the colonial masters had allowed limited number of ministries with portfolio in the Protectorates. In fact, the ministerial appointments were strictly determined by the strength of the political parties in each region. In addition, one or two or more ministries were not open to indigenous people of the Protectorate until the independence as in the case of Jaja Wachuku. |
