It's going to two years now since I opened an account with that bank and till date my balance remains #0.00. I totally support this campaign.

I believe we can make this campaign become a trend on twitter.....let's just create a #CloseAccessBankAccounts...this would generate more participation and audience just like the recent #JusticeForAlice..which was noted by the FG

You mean take this irresponsible call to frontpage to achieve what exactly - a boycott?

In the cooperate world of Capitalism, sentiment is dead and buried.

The board of Directors took the decision to downsize the workforce, to keep the company competitive and thus eliminating redundancies due to acquisition of Intercontinental Bank and to attain marginal/optimum utility thereby preserving the interest of the Shareholders.

Nigeria is not a Socialist State

bestads: Mr Moderator or what are you called Please take this thread to the Front page immediately.

IF it was about celebrity gossip, sex or romance it would have since been in front page

Why will one fight for the sacked bankers now whereas in their days, they were forming big boys/girls and treating low income customers with disdain? Let everyone carry his/her cross. Non sense undecided

A capitalist have the right to downsize. It is inhumane and socially irresponsible of a corporate body to sack 200 staff and a week later use 200mm to bring mariah Carey and fergie for a nonsense concert or seminar or whatever they call it.

If they are not socially responsible to their staff, how will they be socially responsible to the customer.

The head of HR and Corporate Affairs, ought to be queried. It does not portray their bank in good light at all.

If their dare try that in a more saner society, they are a goner and they know it. They cannot even try it Gambia. ask GTB what a Gambian/ sierra leonean {either of the 2} did to them when the boss, a Nigerian, used to shout at her?

Let us keep the campaign against this corporate rascality going.

It is inhumane, barbaric and absolutely without sense.

You mean the management of Access Bank should have allowed the redundant staff to be roaming the Bank Offices aimlessly without duty post?

This is not even about relieved Staff wages rather duplication of functions in one establishment occasioned by acquisition of Intercontinental Bank.

What will it look like to have two heads in every department whose functions and authority are same?

The decision wasn't borne out of inhumanity or profitability but of necessity.

No one is in support of redundancy but the timing with the concert is absurd and it portrays the bank in bad light.

It is sheer Lunacy and poor corporate governance and bad judgement to use share holders reduces to pay Mariah Carey N200,000,000 for a send off party for an going CEO. In saner climes CEOs depart daily without fanfare. It is this culture of waste both in public and private sectors that has put Nigeria in desperate condition.

Hopefully we will display the same level of consciousness and activism to our do-nothing LGA public servants and other elected LAWMAKERS.

You can simply imagine what both Mariah Carey & Ferguson will be discussing with their oyinbo crew and folks back home about Nigerians with their MISPLACED priorities shocked
Did Kim Kardashian not tweet some trash about Nigeria after collecting Fashola's cool $500k for a 24-hour presence in Nigeria

This does not even make the bank look serious to the oyinbos. Do they think, they will give them better rating over that?

stop this nonsense talk. if access bank could comfortably buy out intercontinental, and shore up it's capital base, you have no business worrying about how they spend their profits. ex intercontinental bank staffs can keep struggling to pull down access, well iz not gonna work.......access bank is no different than the rest. perhaps 200mills show featuring was their thank you appreciation for their staffs hardworking. eermm if they could afford that on just treating their staffs, then it sure is a strong bank.

stop hating.

I am total disappointed in your post. Though you are entitled to your opinion.

How are you sure the staff they are celebrating today will not be next on line next year, when they want to organise another 500mm concert for the hardworking ones for the year 2014.

If that is the way you bankers see things then, your cause is not worthy of a fight. Keep living your life of uncertainty.

Mind you, I am not "prouding", I am tremendously blessed and to God be the glory for it.

not to sound rude, but it's capitalism, they toiled for their money and can spend the profits. thats the result of a job well done. if they over spend they're also liable to getting the intercontinental treatment, but asking everybody to boycott a good bank to satisfy the grievances of some even intercontinental staffs is irrational.
please note I'm not a staff of access. I just have an account with them.

l dont support this unholy treatment of the 200 staff. l already emptied my account and going to encourage my costaff at Abuja to to close any acct they hold with this barbaric.institution.

The joint accout with my wife will be moved to a more saner bank like First Bank or SkyeBank. Very wicked organisation and decision makers with ruthless character.

jamace: Even banks are helping to ridicule Nigera. Now somebody tell me how Mariah Carrey will help attract customers to Access Bank. Is the bank telling us that Nigerian musicians are second rate?

Soon some GEJ haters will blame GEJ for this.

He is inspiring them he invited Beyonce remember.
