FC Copenhagen striker Fanendo Adi says he is only thinking about playing for Nigeria despite offers from European countries to change allegiance.

The-23-year-old left the country over five years ago to join AS Trencin in Slovakia, while still a teenager. He has since represented Ukrainian sides Metalurh Donetsk, Dynamo Kyiv and Tavriya Simferopol.

He has been part of the national Under-17 set-up in the past, but has yet to get a full national cap for the Super Eagles.

With the Eagles set for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the Denmark-based marksman said that he hopes to get a look in with head coach Stephen Keshi set to cast his net wide for talent linked to Nigeria.

"I have made up my mind that I will play for Nigeria," Adi told the Daily Trust. "Apart from my brief stay in the camp of the National U17, I have not played for any of the national teams but I am ready to serve my country, if given the opportunity.

"Following my exploits in some European clubs, I have suitors but I cannot dump Nigeria to play for another nation. I am a very proud Nigerian and I will wait for my time as long as it is reasonable.

"I really have to thank God that within so short a time in my career, I have the opportunity to play against some of the best players in Europe."

He added that he is remains optimistic that his opportunity will come soon, after seeing some of his peers getting a chance at senior level this year.

"I must commend the coach of the Super Eagles, Mr. Stephen Keshi for his encouragement to the younger players," he continued.

"At the 2013 AFCON, I saw a young guy like Kenneth Omeruo playing in the heart of the team's defence and I was greatly encouraged."

azzin eh, as at 2010 and even 2011, we were begging players to wear the Nigerian jersey, now everyone is begging to wear the same ish they didn't want to be caught dead in 2 years ago. How the tables turn...
