Are we still living in 1926?
Or have we moved on?

Dear loved one,

I want to share an excerpt with you today as we close out the year 2013 evotional series.

At the end of the reading, I want you to answer a simple question. Ensure you read to the end.

NIGERIANS!

Lord Lugard, the former governor-general of Nigeria, in 1926, wrote his unfiltered thought about Nigerians. From his book, The Dual Mandates, comes these excerpts:

“In character and temperament, the typical African of this race-type is a happy, thriftless, excitable person, lacking in self-control, discipline, and foresight. Naturally courageous, and naturally courteous and polite, full of personal vanity, with little sense of veracity, fond of music and loving weapons as an oriental loves jewellery. His thoughts are concentrated on the events and feelings of the moment, and he suffers little from the apprehension for the future or grief for the past. His mind is far nearer to the animal world than that of the European or Asiatic, and exhibits something of the animals’ placidity and want of desire to rise beyond the state he has reached. “Through the ages, the African appears to have evolved no organised religious creed, and though some tribes appear to believe in a deity, the religious sense seldom rises above pantheistic animalism and seems more often to take the form of a vague dread of the supernatural.

He lacks the power of organisation, and is conspicuously deficient in the management and control alike of men or business. He loves the display of power, but fails to realize its responsibility - he will work hard with a less incentive than most races. He has the courage of the fighting animal, an instinct for survival rather than a moral virtue. In brief, the virtues and defects of his race type are those of attractive children whose confidence when it is won is given ungrudgingly as to an older and wiser superior and without envy. Perhaps, the two traits which have impressed me as those most characteristic of the African native are his lack of apprehension and his lack of ability to visualize the future”

Nigerians are solidly united by the following: love of money, love of power, corruption, culture of impunity, passion for mediocrity, lack of focus and incessant national holidays. (EXCERPT FROM AYO DANIELS DAILY DEVOTIONAL)

Question1: Are these still true today in our society? What is your plan for forward movement in 2014?. (EXCERPT FROM AYO DANIELS)
Question2: Is this a reflection of who you are?
Question3: Why do we hate one another so much, always bickering about ibo, yoruba, hausa, niger-deltan and so on. Why can't we come together for ONCE and think of how to help ourselves and make the Nation great?
Question4: Why will an african prefer to be nicer to the whites, to the detriment of his fellow african?
Question5: According to a statement in the movie Django, is it true that your brain is more enhanced to be subservient, than to think intelligently?
Question6: If today you become the President or Governor or Senator, will you perform better than the current ones!
Question7: Do you dream of the future, do you have foresight? Do you try to predict the outcome of events based on current situation? do you plan 10 years ahead. Where do you see yourself, your family, your town, your state and your Country in 50 years time?
Question8: Have you ever thought of helping someone else in need, someone who might not even be related to you? Do you know this is one major distinguishing factor between rich non-africans (Hollywood artist, musicians e.t.c.) and our so-called african big men?
Question9: Do you realize that Mandela is a hero and was adored by the whites because he taught them an African can choose to be exceptional and different?
Finally, what are gonna do about this information, talk about, laugh at it, forget it, or are you going to truly choose to be truly Human and not a subhuman african?

THE CHOICE IS YOURS! Remember ACTION BEGETS REACTION, NOTHING HAPPENS BY ACCIDENT, AND YOU SHALL REAP WHAT YOU SOW.

WISH YOU A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR IN ADVANCE. LOVE YOU!
