Hi and welcome to LIVE
coverage of the FA Cup and what
looks on paper to be the tie of the
third round as Arsenal host
Tottenham at the Emirates
Stadium. Referee: M. Clattenburg
Re: Arsenal 2 vs 0 Tottenham (FA) 6:15 PM by felsunseg(m): 5:53pm On Jan 04, 2014
… - A while ago this would have
looked like a home banker, with
Arsenal on terrific form and sitting
pretty on top of the Premier
League. But Tottenham, under the
new management of Tim
Sherwood, are on a roll and face
their rivals off the back of a rear at Manchester United.

Re: Arsenal 2 vs 0 Tottenham (FA) 6:15 PM by felsunseg(m): 6:41pm On Jan 04, 2014
23′ - Very nonchalant piece of
play from Lloris as a pass back to
him is a little short and Walcott
charges down, but the goalkeeper
just flicks the ball past and into the
path of Dawson. Risky, but it paid
off.
21′ - Sherwood is furious with
that challenge by Vermaelen but
replays show it was a superb
tackle by the Gunners defender.
20′ - ACTION AT BOTH ENDS!!
Wow, Vermaelen taking a HUGE
risk!! Soldado turns past the
defender brilliantly and the
Belgian slides in but takes the ball,
knowing a badly-timed challenge
would see him off the pitch.
Moments later Cazorla bends a
shot just wide of the post from 18
yards. Fantastic game so far!
19′ - Good work from Soldado,
who receives a long ball from
Dawson and holds off two
defenders before playing a pass
back and keeping possession for
his side.
18′ - Yellow Card - Thomas
Vermaelen (Arsenal Fc)
18′ - OVER FROM ERIKSEN!!
Vermaelen earns the first booking
of the match as he stops Dembele
in his tracks just outside the right-
hand side of the box. Eriksen
steps up and tries a shot but it
always looks too high and the
hosts have a goal kick.
17′ - Lennon does well to
intercept a pass by Koscielny and
he then charges down the left
flank, but Arteta covers superbly to
come across and force a goal kick
off the midfielder.
16′ - Chance for Arsenal as
Rosicky cuts inside and moves
towards the box before Bentaleb
bundles him over. Cazorla swings
it in with his left foot but it's a
poor delivery and Spurs hack the
ball away.
14′ - CLOSE FROM WALCOTT
AND GNABRY!! The England man
drills a shot at goal from 18 yards
and it deflects inches wide of the
post, before Gnabry eventually
receives it from the corner and
whistles a dangerous should just
over the bar.
13′ - There have been plenty
of momentum swings so far
already, and now Arsenal are in
control of possession. There's
been one good chance each but
who will break the deadlock?
12′ - WALCOTT GOES CLOSE!!
That's a fantastic sweeping move
forward from the Gunners, and
Walcott receives the ball inside the
Spurs half before charging
towards the defence, and
unleashes a dangerous low effort
at goal from 25 yards which Lloris
does well to turn behind.
11′ - Eriksen tries to get on the
end of a long ball and turn past
Sagna but the defender reads it
well and puts it out of play for a
throw to Spurs.
10′ - Arsenal survive the
danger from the corner as Eriksen
eventually crosses and Fabianski
plucks it out of the air. A chance
for both sides to calm things
down slightly now.
9′ - JUST WIDE FROM ERIKSEN!!
Adebayor drops deep to receive
the ball, and promptly receives a
chorus of boos. The ball is slide
through the defence and Eriksen
springs the offside trap before
charging into the area and drilling
it into the side netting off
Fabianski. Very close.
8′ - This is a nice spell of
possession from the Gunners.
They stroke it around well inside
the Spurs half before Gnabry tries
to spread wide to Sagna, but Rose
cuts it out and then wins a free
kick.
6′ - Dembele drives through
the middle and is taken out by
Rosicky, giving Spurs a free kick.
They can't make good use of it,
though, and are forced all the way
back to Lloris.
5′ - It's very noisy inside the
Emirates Stadium, and it's been a
good start to the game on the
pitch so far too. Lennon tries to
burst past Monreal but knocks the
ball on too far and the hosts have
a goal kick.
4′ - Chiriches tracks back to
deal with a long Arsenal ball
forward, but Walcott puts the
defender under pressurse and
he's forced to put it out. Gnabry
does well to get to the by-line and
into the box before pulling back to
Walcott, but he can't get a good
contact on the ball and Spurs can
come forward themselves.
3′ - Wilshere slides the ball into
Walcott but Dawson is straight in
to steal the ball from the Gunners
forward. Expect to see the Spurs
defenders sticking tight to him
today.
2′ - Slightly dodgy start from
Fabianski as he puts his first
clearance straight into touch.
Walker dashes down the right and
fires in a low cross which is
turned behind for a corner.
Dembele's shot from the edge of
the box is blocked before Soldado
gets to the rebound, but he
mishits and the Gunners
goalkeeper collects.
1′ - The game is underway as
Arsenal get the ball rolling at the
Emirates Stadium.
Re: Arsenal 2 vs 0 Tottenham (FA) 6:15 PM by felsunseg(m): 6:42pm On Jan 04, 2014
25′ - WALCOTT SHOULD DO
BETTER!! The forward shows
lovely skill to play the ball into
Gnabry from the touchline, before
two quick passes see him in
behind the defence, but the
England international hits it
straight at Lloris and the
goalkeeper's legs divert it out for
a throw.
24′ - Gnabry latches on to a
brilliant diagonal ball forward by
Rosicky, but the flag is up for
offside. There's very little time to
breathe in this match, so here's a
chance for the players to do just
that.
Re: Arsenal 2 vs 0 Tottenham (FA) 6:15 PM by felsunseg(m): 6:44pm On Jan 04, 2014
In head-to-head terms this
one's pretty close; it's the sixth
meeting between these two in the
FA Cup and so far Arsenal have
three wins to Spurs' two. But the
odds aren't really in the visitors'
favour; they've won only two of
their last nine away FA Cup ties.
Re: Arsenal 2 vs 0 Tottenham (FA) 6:15 PM by felsunseg(m): 6:45pm On Jan 04, 2014
28′ - There's still plenty of
noise inside the Emirates Stadium,
and the Arsenal fans turn up the
volume as the visitors keep the
ball. Adebayor tries to turn into
the box but Koscielny stands firm
to put the striker on the floor and
then clear the ball.
27′ - Bentaleb is pressing very
hard in midfield. He puts Arteta
then Wilshere under pressure, and
the Gunners are forced backwards
before eventually surrendering
possession.
26′ - Arsenal upgrade their
throw by winning a corner, but
Dawson clears Cazorla's initial ball
in before Lloris easily claims the
Spaniard's second attempt.

Re: Arsenal 2 vs 0 Tottenham (FA) 6:15 PM by felsunseg(m): 6:55pm On Jan 04, 2014
36′ - Wilshere and Dembele
have been having a bit of a tiff in
the middle in the past few
minutes. There's a bit of shoving
in midfield but the referee just
tells them to get on with the
game.
35′ - Spurs come forward
again and it's played out wide to
Walker, who tries to play it across
the box first time but Arsenal
clear. The full-back may have done
better if he'd taken a touch and
gone for it himself.
34′ - Eriksen nearly sets
Adebayor away with an
improvised flick, but Koscielny
reads it well and manages to cut
the ball out.
Re: Arsenal 2 vs 0 Tottenham (FA) 6:15 PM by felsunseg(m): 6:56pm On Jan 04, 2014
39′ - Arsenal win a free kick
inside the Arsenal half, around 30
yards out. Walcott is lining this
one up...
38′ - Rosicky charges forward
and has the defence backtracking,
but his pass for Walcott is poor
and the Gunners lose the ball
when he could have continued his
run.
37′ - Ominous sings for Spurs
as the hosts knock the ball around
quickly with some lovely one-
touch football. Eventually Arteta
slides a ball through for Wilshere,
who charges to the line before
chipping a ball towards the six-
yard box, but Lloris catches
comfortably.
Re: Arsenal 2 vs 0 Tottenham (FA) 6:15 PM by felsunseg(m): 7:02pm On Jan 04, 2014
After the referee has a
word with Soldado and Dawson,
Cazorla swings in the set piece
and Sagna is inches away from
meeting it at the far post.
Chiriches had done well to put the
defender off.
42′ - The hosts are ending the
half very strongly, and Wilshere is
annoying half the Spurs team. He
has a strong altercation with Rose
on the flank before winning a free
kick off Soldado, and the Gunners
can load the box.
Re: Arsenal 2 vs 0 Tottenham (FA) 6:15 PM by felsunseg(m): 7:03pm On Jan 04, 2014
That's HALF TIME at the
Emirates Stadium and Arsenal
have the lead thanks to Santi
Cazorla's fine strike on half an
hour. Spurs have been well in this
game in periods but have
disappeared too. Can they recover
after the break?
Re: Arsenal 2 vs 0 Tottenham (FA) 6:15 PM by spenca: 7:13pm On Jan 04, 2014

Re: Arsenal 2 vs 0 Tottenham (FA) 6:15 PM by felsunseg(m): 7:37pm On Jan 04, 2014
61′ - Spurs go straight up the
other end and win a corner but
Mertesacker powers a header
clear. Poor delivery from Eriksen,
really.
60′ - WALCOTT PUTS IT WIDE!!
It's a lovely move from Arsenal and
Gnabry slides a wonderful pass
through the defence. Walcott
rounds both Dawson and Lloris
but is forced wide and tries to
score from the tightest of angles,
only finding the side netting.
59′ - Walcott is nearly away
beyond the defence again as
Sagna chips a superb ball over the
top, but again the flag goes up.
One of these is going to come off
eventually.
58′ - Nice footwork from
Wilshere on the edge of the box
as he skips past two defenders
before playing it into the path of
Monreal, but Walker and Dawson
manage to shore things up quickly
and clear their lines.
57′ - Cazorla is looking
dangerous every time he gets the
ball this evening, and he slides
another teasing pass beyond the
defence for Walcott, but Dawson
recovers well and Spurs eventually
get the ball clear.
56′ - WHAT A CHANCE FOR
ADEBAYOR!! The striker has
missed a golden opportunity
there. He receives the ball in the
area with his back to goal, and
tries to swivel and volley at once
from 12 yards, completely fluffing
his effort and it goes straight to
Fabianski.
55′ - Walcott is down in pain
after getting a foot on the back of
his ankle from Chiriches. It all
looked innocent but that was
bound to hurt. The forward is
back on his feet, though, and play
can carry on.
54′ - Wide from Soldado!! It's
a good, sweeping move forward
from Spurs as Eriksen drives into
the Arsenal half. He squares to
Lennon, who immediately flicks
the ball out to Soldado. The striker
takes a touch before dragging a
tame effort well wide from 25
yards.
53′ - Good pressure from
Walcott and Dawson is forced into
an error, putting the ball straight
out of play. Walcott has revelled in
his role up front so far today.
52′ - Lovely, lovely football by
Arsenal! Cazorla turns right by the
corner flag and plays back to
Rosicky, who chips a delightful
cross to the far post and Sagna
meets it, trying to head across
goal but Chiriches is in the way to
block. Fantastic play from the
hosts though.
51′ - Gnabry is given acres of
space in the middle and plays the
ball through the defence for
Walcott to chase, but the England
man is offside.

64′ - Gnabry is almost through
this time, latching on to a long
pass, but Lloris sprints out of his
area to hack the ball away. Good
defending by the Frenchman.
63′ - Sherwood will be furious
with that goal. He's made an
instant change, bringing on Nacer
Chadli for Soldado, but it's a long
way back now.
62′ - Goal - Tomas Rosicky
(Arsenal Fc) ROSICKY DOUBLES THE
LEAD!! Oh, Danny Rose, that's
awful!! The defender is furthest
back and Rosicky puts him under
pressure on the ball, forcing a
mistake on the turn and the
midfielder steals it. He's through
one-on-one and eventually lifts the
ball over Lloris and into the back
of the net.

90′ + 3 - All the noise is
coming from the Arsenal fans
now. They look set for a spot in
the fourth round.
90′ + 2 - Tottenham are
pressing but Arsenal are
defending solidly. Walker plays the
ball to Eriksen on the right-hand
edge of the box, but Cazorla
sprints back to poach possession
and clear.
90′ + 1 - Into the first of five
minutes' added time and Spurs
have a goal kick. Surely it's too late
