Hot -Angel, you have touched a very important point there. Carrying the Bible around without knowing the words is like having a gun and not knowing how to shoot it. Do you think the enemy will run away just because you have a gun? Hell no! They won't unless you start firing at them. And isn't it obvious that there are atleast hundred Bibles in every country and the devil still robs a lot of people everyday? Yes, cuz they don't know how to use their Bibles, they just have Bibles. And the big isue is: Do they really want to know how to use their bibles |

like someone said to me a long time ago, there's a church in every mans heart so you dont have to go everywhere with your bible( unless you are an evangelist) to be close to God . people should be more focused on living what they learn from the bible and carrying it around just doesnt work( you need to see my mums devotional to discard the idea of lugging the good book around) |

Re: Cell Phone Vs. Bible by borngreat(f): 6:32pm On Jul 27, 2006 |
@seun can the cell phone give eternal life? i think the cell phone deals more or less with the physical while the bible is spiritually inclined. Afterall, d spiitual controls d physical u know so the bible sperceeds d cell phone i prefer d bible |
Re: Cell Phone Vs. Bible by hotangel2(f): 7:27pm On Jul 28, 2006 |
borngreat: The bible does NOT give eternal life. Surrendering ur life to christ is what gives you eternal life. The bible is not spiritualy inclined. The words in it are tho. And u dont have to carry the bible everwhere for you to know the words in it. Which do i prefer? BOTH. Why, because my bible is in my cell phone. |

You know, I think the last chapter of Revelation is specifically AGAINST "upgrades" to the new version of the bible (Rev. 22: 18-19 KJV). "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. And if any man shall take away from the words of this book of prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book." I'm not saying that the King James is superior and that we shouldn't use any others, but I do have my doubts about the New International Version since there's a couple of verses missing in it that are in King James (and New King James, American Standard, New Revised Standard, etc.). No offense to anyone who uses the NIV, but you're missing part of it. |

Hi Chuckdee, Thanks for sharing and for blessing us. Though this is posted 6 years ago, it really blessed me. I have adapted and updated it for smartphones as well and hope this blesses you all too Cell Phones & Bibles Makes you stop and think where our priorities are? I wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phones? What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets? What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it? What if we flipped through it several times a day? What if we used it to receive messages from God just as we use it to receive messages? What if we used it to send messages from God to others who might need it just as we communicate and send messages through it? What if we treated it like we couldn't live without it? What if we gave it to people as gifts? What if we used it as we traveled? What if we used it everyday and especially in case of an emergency? What if we store our memories in it just as we store our photos and life in our cell phones? What if we used it to store and play songs? Will it be songs of melancholy or songs of hope and joy? What if we bring and go to it for our to-dos as we would with the calendar and to-do lists of the phone? What if we learn from it just as we would with some apps on our smartphones, which connects us to encyclopedias and dictionaries? What if we used it to check where we are in our lives and find our way just as we use the GPS on our phones? What if we used it to check for what God has to offer as we check for shopping, credit card and eating offers? What if we used it to refresh and renew our minds as we use it for games? What if we do the saving of our contacts in and through it? What if we did our transaction through it just as we do our transactions eg Internet banking through it? This is something to make you go, hmmm, where is my Bible? Oh, and one more thing. Unlike our cellphones, we don’t ever have to worry about our bible being disconnected because Jesus already paid the bill! (Adapted from: https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-16761.0.html) |
