AgricultureBanks Release N77.4bn For Agric Projects by 16Ebiscoo(op): 8:23am On Aug 30, 2018
The Nigerian Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending has facilitated the release of a total of N77.4bn from the Deposit Money Banks into agribusiness in Nigeria.

The Managing Director, NIRSAL, Aliyu Abdulhameed, gave the figure on Wednesday in Abuja during his investiture as a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply Management.

NIRSAL was created by the Central Bank of Nigeria to stimulate the flow of affordable finance and investments into the agricultural sector by de-risking the agribusiness finance value chain, fixing agricultural value chains, building long-term capacity and institutionalising incentives for agricultural lending.

Speaking at the event, Abdulhameed said that NIRSAL had trained over 700,000 farmers in best agronomic practices and financial education.

He added that the agency had provided high quality agricultural inputs and affordable finance to more than 500,000 smallholder farmers.

He commended the institute for the recognition, adding that the award would spur the agency to continue to maintain high standards in the transformation of agribusiness in Nigeria.

He said, “It is one thing for an individual to make a lifetime effort to abide by the qualities of transparency and integrity, but it is another to be recognised for it by a prime institution such as CIPSM.

“As a non-bank financial institution mandates to de-risk agriculture and facilitate agribusiness, NIRSAL with me at the helms of affairs is dedicated to abiding by good procurement principles to achieve these goals.

“Under my stewardship, NIRSAL has facilitated the flow of N77.4bn from commercial banks’ balance sheet into agric businesses, trained over 700,000 farmers on beat agronomy practices and financial education and directly facilitated high quality agricultural inputs to more than 500,000 smallholder farmers.”

PoliticsPDP Reports Buhari To British Prime Minister, Theresa May… Is Buhari Not In Trou by 16Ebiscoo(op): 10:59pm On Aug 28, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday urged the British Prime Minister, Thresa May to “use her state visit to Nigeria to uncover the dismal state of our nation by resisting a choreographed plan by the Buhari Presidency to hoodwink her for an endorsement stunt.”

PDP urged the British leader not to allow the “Buhari Presidency to confine her to the palours of the Presidential Villa, but to insist on visiting other parts of the nation to enable her directly appreciate the level of lies and false performance indices the Federal Government has been dishing out to the world.”

A statement by PDP’s spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan said “This is particularly as we have been made aware of plans by the Federal Government to use the visit to dish out more lies to the international community in an effort to cover its failures in governance in the last three years, for which Nigerians are clamouring for a new president under the PDP.

“We charge the British Prime Minister, as a parliamentarian, to take the Buhari Presidency to task on its unabated interferences and violent attacks on the institution of the National Assembly, including threats to forcefully remove the elected presiding officers of the Senate, as well as the recent invasion and blockade of the National Assembly by Presidency-controlled security forces.”

The opposition party urged the “British leader to task President Buhari on his widely condemned stand against the supremacy of the rule of law in addition to records of violation of human rights in Nigeria, including government’s disobedience to court orders, reported extra-judicial killings, torture, unlawful political arrests and detention, restriction of free speech and media freedom and lack of government’s accountability as detailed in report by various international bodies, including Transparency International (TI), Amnesty International (AI) and US Department of States.

“The British leader should also elicit discussions with the President on the recent report by Price Waterhouse Cooper showing humongous corruption in his administration, including the circumstances surrounding the N4 trillion unremitted oil money in agencies under his direct supervision as minister.

“Finally, we urge the Prime Minister May, to engage President Buhari on the violent rigging of elections under his watch, and extract commitment from him on his administration’s preparedness for a free, fair and credible general elections in 2019, especially as there are apprehensions across Nigeria, that his actions, utterances and body language suggest otherwise.”

Celebrities5 Bad Habits That Mess Up Your Skin by 16Ebiscoo(op): 11:25am On Aug 28, 2018
Just as there are habits that improve your appearance, there are bad habits you can fall into in terms of diet, exercise and grooming that can ruin your appearance, even if you started out genetically blessed in that department.

To find out if you’re guilty of committing one or more of these sinful habits and to find out how you can change both your ways and your looks for the better, you might want to stick around.

Using Random products in your face

Lets face it, men lack a dedicated skin care routine. Most men use whatever happens to be available to wash their faces, including bar and liquid soaps containing harsh chemicals that dry out the thin, fragile skin on your face. By switching to a cleanser that’s specifically formulated for your skin type (dry, oily or combo), you’ll have clearer, softer, more youthful-looking skin

Dry shaving

Lets ignore the serious “ouch” factor associated with shaving dry, not using shaving cream when you groom your facial hair will definitely pave the way for skin irritation, rashes and shaving bumps. To minimise your chances of inflammation and cuts, spend a few extra money on a reputable shaving cream when you’re picking up new razors.
For better results, shower beforehand to help open up your pores, then apply your shaving cream.

Touching your face

I’m sure you are probably thinking “what the hell?” What we don’t realize is, in between washings your hands pick up all kinds of dirt, bacteria and grease from food. When you touch your face, all that can get into your pores and clog them. All these can lead to unwanted breakouts on your face. Furthermore, rubbing your face with your hands pulls your skin in all kinds of directions, thereby promoting the formation of wrinkles.

Not drinking enough water

Ideally, you’re supposed to drink eight glasses of water a day. If, however, you’re also ingesting several diuretics, you’re not doing your appearance any favours. Diuretics are substances like caffeine and alcohol that cause your body to excrete water.

Given that our bodies are 70% water, it’s essential to stay hydrated to maintain proper cell functioning, and in turn, get a fit body and bright skin. So, if you can’t live without your morning cup (or three) of coffee, at least make sure you compensate by drinking more H2O.

Smoking

Of course this is definitely making the list. Saved the worst for last.

As a result of the 4,000-plus chemicals cigarettes contain, you’re literally killing yourself every time you take a drag. When you smoke, a group of atoms form in your body and these damage your DNA. This would automatically lead to pale skin with lots of deep lines. Of course, you already knew all that. What you may not know is that you can quit.

Begin by weighing the pros and cons of smoking, being truthful about what you enjoy about it. Then try to figure out ways you could get the same benefits without smoking. It’s a hard process and you have to find what works for you, but if you persist, even if you backslide, you will eventually succeed and your body would thank you for that.

CrimeTOO BAD!! Two Nigerian Girls Trafficked As Housemaids Killed By Their Boss In Sa by 16Ebiscoo(op): 10:57pm On Aug 27, 2018
Two Nigerian girls have been allegedly killed by their employers after being trafficked to work as housemaids in Saudi Arabia.

The murder of the two young women occurred within a space of two weeks in the respective homes where they worked as servants by their Saudi bosses.

According to Satellite Times, the first Nigerian girl to be murdered was by name Omotayo who until her death in June 2018 worked as a migrant domestic worker in Riyadh.

She reportedly sent this photo to her friends in a group chat called “Strong Nigerian Ladies” – a solidarity group created by Nigerian migrant domestic workers in Saudi Arabia. .

Omotayo, in her June post which happened to be her last, narrated to the solidarity group her latest incident of battery in the hands of the Saudi family she worked for. Her boss and the entire family had descended on her for being disrespectful to them.

The maid’s only offence was that she insisted her three-month salary arrears be paid to her.

She had put her foot down saying she would no longer accept excuses for the non-payment of her salaries just as she said she was tired of eating leftover food.

Her action was seen as an affront.Another Nigerian by name Shola, was also killed by her boss.

Her story was told by Adeola Oladipo, another housemaid in the Strong Nigeria Ladies Group.

. “Shola has been constantly assaulted and starved by her sponsor in Saudi Arabia. Whenever she demands for food they would always beat her up and she lost so much weight…“One day her male boss came as usual to beat her while she was doing chores in the kitchen. .

The beating became so severe she had to defend herself with a knife. In the process the knife cut her boss and her sponsor hit her on the neck and she collapsed.

When the boss saw that Shola was dying, he rushed her to the hospital where he said she suddenly fell ill. A few days later, the Nigerian gave up the ghost in the hospital.”
