Hello All,
Am considering buying a ngierian used mercedes benz 190.

Please i would like you guys to tell me the advantages and disadvantages of using this car.
Am been a bit discouraged because they it consumes a LOT of fuel
Pls advice

ADVANTAGES - NONE
DISADVANTAGES - PLENTY INCLUDING FUEL CONSUMPTION AND OVER HEATING (IF YOU LIKE PUT TRIPLE RADIATOR).

190 na moto oo, especially if na direct belguim,abeg i can assure u dat if u dont get a nigerian used 190 but a direct 1 belguim den u need not 2 b scared about fuel,and besides the parts are very cheap and its easy 2 repair, almost every mechanic can repair it unlike kias and camrys

My Guy,  no shaking, go for it. I'll advice you just buying a direct Tokunbo like my other guy suggested, that way,  u're sure nothing much has been tampered with. I use one and I tell you,  I won't drop it even for a 2002 Camry and that's the truth. I go at least 400km on a full Tank of about 54 ltrs. To be sure it's not been tampered with, only one key should open the doors, boot, glove compartment and ignition. That way u know ur tokunbo 190 has not been tampered with.

the parts are cheap, u just need a good mechanic that knows much about Benz and I tell you that is not too hard to find. It's a very reliable car with tough parts and engine that don't need fixing all the time. If u want the one with AC,  all you need is the Big Radiator and if it's without A/C, the small radiator is more than enough. Mine is without A/C and carries the small radiator. I put in Radiator Coolant once or twice a year and I have no problems of over heating. When I'm in traffic, you can hardly hear my engine working. At times I have to listen hard myself to be sure my engine is still on. I've used the car for two and half years now and all I do is servicing every 4 months ie, thrice a year which is not too bad.

thats it, my bro has said it all, i prefer the 190 2 even the 2000 model of camry and even e-class benz, all the same if u arent using a 190 den go 4 an end of discussion or a 2008 camry thats all, 190 too much if u go 4 a direct 190

U said u use abt 54ltrs for 400km, if my math is right that's abt 7.4km for a 1litre, even a motorcycle with just one cylinder would struggle to do that. A benz 190 should be more of about 2.5km for every litre. But I cant even be right all the time, fuel consumption depends on a lot of other things plus the condition of the engine.

I don't think that sdbaba overestimated anything at all. I just ckecked the 190 data and according to the manufacturer the car should get about 8.5km per Liter of petrol. If you take out other inefficiency and age of the car. Its not an outrageous number at all.

Thanks Promise72 for enlightening rock101, you need to check your facts well before ur posts rock101, with all due respect, we are all on this forum to learn, but basing statements on unverified facts may be very misleading.

I live in Ibadan where we don't grapple with much traffic and I've monitored the fuel consumption of my car, I always buy full tank and don't refill until my indicator shows reserve, that way I make sure I empty the tank which also aids in keeping the tank clean. There are few tricks about cars, and the more you know ur car, the more u get out of it. May be you need to be told that the right tyres and pumped tyre pressure of ur car also adds to the fuel efficiency of that car!!!

I bought the car as a very clean fresh Tokunbo and all the functions are working perfectly. I don't play with my car's maintenance at all and my tyres are brand new so that way I get the best out of my car. A perfect Benz 190 with the right tyres,good engine and right pressure should do 8.5km per litre of fuel, which means I still need to improve the efficiency of my Benz to get to that. Thanks Promise72 for that piece of information. Off to my mechanic now

dont try too hard cos efficiency decreases as the car ages. The driving condition etc. Benz will test their car in an "ideal" situation and brand new too. No matter how hard you try you will not achieve that condition in real life. cos of potholes, hills, acceleration etc.

Manufacturers have a test lab to create "equal footing" during test. So that when they say 8.5km in Benz it should almost be the same in Nissan or Toyota etc.

Just do regular service and enjoy. You are close enough anyway

Thanks my guy, was just trying to pull rock101's legs. Of course I know that efficiency will reduce with age and the Naija factors too but all the same I'm happy with the performance of my 190. Monkey no fine but im mama like am soo ooo

190 Too much, but with 2.5m an end of discussion could be lurkim, get a direct 190 not a used 1 within 9ja, thats all;

nothing strange about a 190 that does 7.5km/l. everything strange about one that does less. had a sweet 3series bmw once. used to get 10.5lts/km when doing interstate. have looked at european cars differently since then.
on the other hand, i want somebody to give me a shorlist of 5cars,made between 98-2008 that can do 9kms/Lt. pls exclude any late Honda Accords/VW Golfs & the Toyota corolla.

benz is da bomb, a new direct belguim can match a new yaris on a highway

donsent run that muc as wen i brought it
its abt 8-9mnths old

There is something wrong with your calculations/engine somewhere because I get avg 18.7mpg, about 7.8km/litre in a 4.7l V8
On a straight 400km trip, I will be doing about 9.5km/ltr( actually got it once)
