topendo: a friend of mine has code GR and she is a graduate of law. does anyone have an idea of what this code could mean, unfortunately, she wont be making the test date since she is not in country, for me , my code is QE and i am a graduate of Engineering(Chemical), probably it could mean quality Engineer, just saying...... keep the thread rolling, my test time is 1:30pm unilag, while that of my friend is 10:30am, same venue.

My code in QE. I studied Chemistry and applied for Grduate specialist Quality Control.

Can anybody remember if there was an portion for choosing area of interest while filling the online form? Or it was done based on course of study.

Yes. There were options of functional areas to choose from. I am of the opinion that all graduate Specialist applicants may have been grouped based on parameters such as the Choice of functional area, experience in certain functional areas and Professional Certification(s) obtained.

If I were you, I'd just stick to what I have already and look for another job closeby so that I can be making more from 2 different sources or better still, I start up a business and still keep my govt job. For crying out loud, people are moving from private owned organizations to government jobs and you want to go the opposite way.. I can only leave a government job for top notch organizations that pay heavy, like Shell, Total, Mobil, etc.
One more thing for you to consider is, your government job is about 99% secure whether you work or not but in private organizations, even if you put in your all, your appointment can still be terminated at any point in time and then you're back at job search...
The choice is yours to make man...

Who told you they pay 80k? Their pay is about same thing you receive at your current org. Stick to your job, not like uac even recruits much people. from all info gathered, they don't take more than 20 annually.. save yourself the stress......
Again, you can even be doing your own business while still at your present org...
The decision is yours anyway

Now let's talk oooooo, is UAC pay very poor? Cos where I am though is less than 100k I earn, I still enjoy the place ooo, pls let's know the pay range if u have an idea, so I don't waste my tym and resources going for the test @ abj...So pls ur replies are penitent....how much is the range for experienced staff with over 5 years experience?

The Pay is not 50K.. Pple are just quoting their pay for yr 2004 or so.. Make una go find out their current pay b4 sayin stuffs U're not sure of.

i am also part of 503 students to go for their masters in india though i will have to leave without a pay.... am ok with the job fellas wont leave my govt job for 80k job.

Its quite amazing that a university graduate can be comfortable with a 50K salary.. I mean that's d amount GTB and som other coy offer their NYSC corpers not to talk of their staffs. With the situation in the Nigerian economy, i dont know what 50k can do for me without even minusing transportation & feeding,... family pple mouth dey oh, Gf dey oh, tithe dey oh, etc. chai!

The only thing i love about govt jobs is the job security, but d disadvantage of most govt jobs at graduate level is dat U can become very lazy, always sitting behind d desk not doing much, not gaining experience and acquiring new skills, too comfortable to compete with professional standards&internationally etc.
But all d same govt jobs are ok shaa but not d best. So pls dont settle for less, always take every opportunity U have seriously, U neva can say wat it might turn out to be.

Guys, the name alone, UAC has some worth. Great salary or not, it'd be a privilege beginning a career in a place as that. Can we stop focusing on the sal already?? Guys with jobs especially. What's the point if you've gone this far?
Besides, If Mgt Trainees/ Grad Specialists are paid that lil, what's the take home of the junior staff at Mr Biggs? Please!!

@FaiyhYetu where do u work in kano u knw hw swt kano is....... cant leave behind my job and sweet accommodation in kano with almost free transport for 80k job in lagos where accommodation isnt free and food isnt free.... not to talk of transportation.
