Clemens Westerhoff was the best coach to ever tinker with the eagles, and by the time he did his magic the name of the team changed from "green" eagles to "super" eagles.
How and why did he succeed?
First and most important reason is that he is an unorthodox man with a philosophy totally different from the usual Nigerian mindset of political correctness.
When he came in, he discovered that some of the players in key positions were short, eg. Friday Ekpo - great player, but short in stature.
Westerhoff dropped him, and insisted that all his players must be above average in height, and physically strong.
When he was done, the green eagles players stopped being pushed out of balls by stronger players of Cameroon and other countries.
I remember the match eagles played against Bukina Faso in prep of 1992 African nations cup. The eagles drubbed them 7-1. The "green eagles" died, and super eagles was born!
Second reason is that westhoff never listened to any local considerations in picking his team. Keshi tried his best to copy that, but the nigerian in him handicapped him and made him not go the whole way. Even if Keshi wanted, the Nigerians wouldn't have allowed him to try that anyway. There'll be cries of blue murder if he did!

so, we need a young foreign coach, hopefully a dutch because we play similar style with the dutch... and yes hopefully a white man, because Nigerians still allow white coaches to work undisturbed! Truth is bitter.

Just remember that what westerhof achieved in 6 years Keshi achieved within 3 years

Since westerhof there has been loads of foreign coaches who have not achieved much

So the evidence shows that appointing a WHITEMAN does not guarantee success.

Short-termism is killing our football. I think another Nigerian should takeover from Keshi if Keshi goes!
