In furtherance of a partnership between Harvard University and University of Lagos (UNILAG), a Professor of African History from the Harvard University, Dr. Emmanuel Akyeampong has paid a visit to the Akoka campus of the institution to open up discussion with UNILAG.

Speaking during the courtesy call by the Vice Chancellor, Professor Rahman Bello, Dr. Akyeampong said the visit was to discuss possible areas of partnership that will be beneficial to the two Universities which will be followed up my the visit my faculty members from Harvard University later.

Assuring that there will be another visit by his Faculty members, the Harvard university scholar expressed the institution’s preparedness to take on the responsibility of mentorship of any first class student and staff that the University of Lagos within an agreed partnership arrangement between the institutions.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rahman Bello, who described academia as an international set-up, reiterated the importance of staff and students exchanged programmes among Universities with particular reference to Africa youngest Ph.D. graduate in Mathematics and Physic Dr. Halowen as the first recipient of partnership opportunity between the two Universities.

He further stated that the partnership could be tailored alongside an MOU line in order to take full advantage of it for full participation of all interested faculties from the Universities.
