The Igbos as an ethnic group has, no doubt being casualties of perceived injustice, national oppression, and political irrelevance at national pedestal as well as marginalization of all sorts over the years.

Therefore every opportunity where national restructuring would be discussed is usually dumped at especially when it has to do with the portion of the national cake that falls on ones side. Those in the diaspora quickly arranged themselves as usual albeit in a shambolic way along the ethnic/tribal divide and various agenda started propping up.
The most thrilling agenda is from my south-eastern brothers starting with Ohaneze Ndigbo which happens to be the apex Igbo sociocultural organisation. The issues they want discussed bothers on Nigeria’s political structure, form/tenure of government, power/devolution of powers of the tiers of government, revenue derivation/allocation, citizens right, structure of the armed forces. Etc
My challenge with the various ethinicism/sentimental demands is that you can’t be asking for a stake in the nation’s pot of resources and yet be demanding a right to secession and self-determination.

If the Igbos would be true to themselves then this discordance in agenda must be corrected. There must be alignment across all idea-boards from the Biafra Zionist Movement to the MASSOB as well as the Igbo Youth Forum up till the Ohaneze-Ndigbo. All demands must be aligned before the south easterners would be taken seriously.

What exactly do they want? You may be forced to ask .Biafra to be discussed? more eastern states to be created? Revenue allocation accruing to the east be reviewed? Whatever it is , I think the Biafra project of Dim Ojukwu is fast becoming dim and a pipe dream far from being realized with the level of dissonance across Igbo groups and the paraphernalia’s. Its high time we all realized that our nationhood may become indivisible. We should all unite to forge ahead a strong Nigeria of great equity and justice. The pseudo scam of Biafranism must be laid to rest.
