What does @ do in PHP?
Is it admirable to use it?

I don't think that is what the poster was referring to. I believe it is the use of the '@' symbol before the name of functions that return a file-like object/handle. eg.

$file = @file($someFilename); 

according to this stackoverflow answer it is used to suppress error messages

The @ symbol is to be placed before any PHP function name to suppress warning error returned by that function.

Now, is it a Good practice to use the @ symbol to suppress warning errors?

Why is it that using session_start when using PHP mail function to send email And return to that same page gives a warning error like: header already sent blah blah( can't really remember the full warning error now )

You cannot even promote the one a nairalander (namely dhtml) made which is very fantastic and even comes with internal browser - https://sourceforge.net/projects/phpbrowserbox/ - and supports PHP5.4.16,MySQL5.6.12 and SQLite3 unlike the bamcompile (php 4.4 which is no longer supported).

So sorry @dhtml I will of cause promote phpbrowser box.
